Circa 1960 mid 20th century modernist fan rectangular station copper bracelet signed REBAJES for Frank Rebajes, the most successful modernist jewelry manufacturer of the mid century. Born in the Dominican Republic in 1907, he came to New York in 1923 to seek his fortune, establishing his own factory in 1932, and his own Fifth Avenue store in 1942.

This impressive copper cuff features a Precolumbian-style face surrounded by two levels of hand-applied copper wirework. The round plaques supporting the central design, as well as the cuff band, have crimped edges. The band exhibits a textured surface and has retained its original shape. The entire bracelet appears to have been hardly worn, though does show some minor oxidation or light coloration from the construction process. Overall, the cuff has the deep brownish color of aged copper...
