Pencil drawing on heavy paper of a happy chef draped over a chair and holding a lobster and corn or celery, 14 1/2" by 11 1/4", signed at lower right by listed California artist DUVAL ELIOT (1909-1990). Her biography appears in askart and in Hughes' dictionary of California artists. Eliot was Arkansas-born, and was in California as a child. Pastel on paper drawing of two female figures in black, possibly a mother and her daughter, 23 1/2" by 17 1/2", and narrow frame. I do not see a signature or date, though I believe the paper is likely from the 20th century. The drawing has not been properly framed (no mat) so there has been some contact with the glass...

One of dozens of drawings by this artist that I recently acquired, (ask to see others, not shown in my shop) this is a fine image in soft pencil and ink on paper, the drawing itself 10" by 13 1/2", in a simple frame without mat, signed with initials at right and dated '65, by California and Massachusetts listed artist DAISY MARGUERITE HUGHES (1882-1968). Hughes was born and died in Los Angeles but in between she spent much time in the Provincetown art colony on Cape Cod...

Two finely executed pencil drawings, one titled "Mount Hood", the other of a mounted cowboy rounding up calves, the scene, I have been informed by a distant relative of the artist, being in Big Timber, Montana. The drawings are essentially unframed, currently just protected. Both measure roughly 5" by 7 3/4"; the Oregon scene has an uneven top margin area, and both open up, almost as if they were intended to be greeting cards, but there are no messages inside...

An accomplished ink drawing of three women and a male flute player at right, after Pablo Picasso, signed in pencil at lower right by the famous international art forger, ELMYR DE HORY (1906-1976). The 13 3/4" by 18 1/4" work (20 1/4" by 25" in interesting framing incorporating mirrors in the margin areas) is a fine example of the work of De Hory, the Hungarian-born man who went on to become perhaps the world's most famous art forger by mid century...

Original unframed drawing on old Brownie art board, in ink and marker with hint of pencil underneath in a few spots, each box measuring 2 15/16" by 3 1/2", dated "3-20" and signed at far right "Schulz". Also appearing is "(COPY) NOT FOR REPRODUCTION" and the name "j. f. bufton" on the bench next to the bat. Believing that the work could possibly be an authentic work by Schulz, I have researched the drawing through the Charles Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California...

By the internationally famous English 20th century fashion photographer, artist, interior/stage/costume designer, tastemaker, and socialite, CECIL BEATON (1904-1980), this is an original pencil drawing of a nude woman, the sheet measuring 12 1/4" by 9 5/8" (16 1/2" by 14 1/2" in contemporary simple light wood frame). The almost expressionistic drawing is unsigned but is estate stamped at lower right, showing its origin as from the estate of Miss Eileen Hose, Mr...

Pencil on paper drawing of a southern-style house with large tree and foreground dog, dated 1967 lower right, 5" by 6 3/4", 13" by 15" framed, by the well listed Louisiana artist ROLLAND HARVE GOLDEN (1931-2019). The dog resembles an ancient breed of dog, such as would be seen in a museum of Egyptian sculptural antiquities--perhaps, the pet of a pharaoh...

A 9 1/8" by 6 7/8" crayon on paper drawing, (24 1/2" by 20 3/4" as presently framed), signed at lower left in pencil "M. Hoff" and on the backing is written apparently in artist's handwriting "MARGO HOFF/THREE ROOFS/CRAYON DRAWING". Margo Hoff was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1910. By 1934 she was in Chicago where she received training at the Art Institute. Before the war she was able to travel extensively in Europe...

A wild crayon and pencil on paper drawing of bizarre abstracted forms that might be described as "organic", the drawing tacked at four corners to a larger board that is itself painted decoratively. The work, 22" by 18" framed, is signed with initials at lower right that could be "BK" and the date is "02". This was found in Southern California. The artist worked a lot of hours to produce this. Both drawing and gold frame are in very good condition.

Fine pencil drawing, possibly illustrator art, of a traditional old doorway in New England or elsewhere in the east, 10 1/2" by 7 1/2" inside the mat, 17" by 13 1/2" framed. There are a few listed artists by this name Don Browne (possibly "Browne"----there might be a fainter version underneath) but I don't believe this to be by one of them, though the work is competently executed. The drawing is in clean, fine condition.
