The camera somewhat overstates the color difference between top (more brownish) and bottom (less browned) half; I can't explain the variation...

Australian aboriginal art, painted on eucalyptus bark in the traditional manner, the imagery featuring four long-necked birds and leaves, against a patterned background. The work might bear the name of the artist on the reverse, written in white chalk, but that is indecipherable. The word "Mapuru" is readable; this is a remote, pure, isolated area of northeast Arnhem Land in the tropical north of the country, about 600 km. east of Darwin. Measurements are 21" by 12 1/2"...

A beautifully executed mixed media drawing of famous Spirit Island, one of the most photographed places in the Canadian Rockies, at Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta, signed at lower right by talented artist Don Slote and dated there 4/1972. The work, primarily in pastel, with some pencil, measures 12" by 15" (19 1/2" by 22 1/2" framed). Condition of frame and art is excellent and fresh, belying its fifty years...

A striking mixed media work, featuring the whitewashed architecture and Mediterranean light of the island of Djerba, Tunisia, highlighted by an electric blue paint, signed at lower center, dated 1979. Original signed poster for the Whitney Museum showing of "For Example", a 1972 movie by Shusaku Arakawa (1936-2010), from the Mechanism of Meaning project by Arakawa and Madeline Gins. This framed poster is in excellent framed condition and is signed in pencil lower right by both artists. We also have an original mixed media painting by Arakawa available, from the early sixties.
