“FLOWERS & APPLES” oil on canvas 21.75” x 25.75”
Henri Manguin is considered one of the founding father of Fauvism. He was born in Paris on March 23, 1874. Fatherless at the age of six years he was reared with his sister by his mother. At age 15 he decided to stop his education and devote himself to painting. Four years later, he left home and moved to Montmartre. Late in 1894 he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts to study under Gustave Moreau...
Oil on canvas laid on masonite, 20" by 30", unframed, signed at lower right by Italian artist R. J. Bertini, and dated 1902 (possibly 1912). The scene is an interior with a large hearth in the background, four men appearing as cavaliers or musketeers around a table, engaged in an animated conversation with an old woman, as a young shy woman looks on from the left corner...
19TH century Italian watercolor showing Christ taken down from the cross, by an anonymous master painter. Wonderful vivid colors. Offered in a contemporary frame. Roughly 16" by 11" (painting alone), 22" by 17" framed. One of a number of similar works by the same artist currently available.
Old impressionist oil on canvas laid on wood board painting of a typical Dutch scene with windmills, boats, and a waterway, 9" by 11 1/4" (13 1/2" by 15 3/4" in 20th century frame). There does appear to be a signature at lower left but despite my best efforts I am unable to determine that name...
Henri Achillo Zo, French, 1873-1933. This Landscape is Oil on Wood Panel from about 1920-30. It is 16" by 8", in an original 5" black wood frame. It is signed lower right and is in good condition. This painting is a very rare example of the pointalist technique. The intricate and swirling brushstrokes or elongated points of paint merge magically, using all of the primary colors in an exquisite and sophisticated manner to create this luminous landscape...

Oil on canvas, 18" by 21 1/4", unframed, signed at lower right "A. Alvarez", the subject a colorful flower stall "La Flor de la Rambla" in an obviously European (Spanish, no doubt) town. The work is in need of a frame but otherwise is ready for display. Presently there is an inner frame remnant but no true frame.
A striking, traditional, antique, oil on old oak panel painting, with even an Old Master feel, the painting itself 13 1/4" by 15 3/4" (34.3 cm. by 41.3 cm), the scene a landscape dominated by a placid large white dray-type horse (painted with extraordinary sensitivity and skill), a goat at left foreground, and resting cattle in the distance, the remainder of the composition dominated by a sky filled with beautiful clouds, and classic willow trees at right...
This is a very fine painting of a man and his dog fishing. Oil on canvas, 18 x 26 inches, c. 1880, signed in the lower left corner,by Francois Vuagnat. Francois Vuagnat was born in Geneva in 1826. and died in 1910. He was a well known Artist and Photographer. Housed in a 19th century frame with gold liner. A fine scene with the man's trusty companion awaiting dinner.
PAIR of circa 1880 oil landscapes on panel, each 10 1/4" by 18 3/4" (15 3/4" by 24 1/2" in modern frames). The images of lakeside castles are classic 19th century European art. Small sail boats, feathery trees and ancient stone bridges complete the scenes. Each is signed with monogram like "A M" or "S M". I considered these might be by the famed German painter Adolph Menzel but think that unlikely...
Oil on canvas scene of a central Parisian plaza by the Seine in the late 19th century, including an advertising kiosk, horse drawn wagons, and figures dressed in the manner of the times, the Seine and domed building in the background, 20" by 24" (28" by 32" framed), signed at lower right by the popular contemporary painter who signs as "G. SHERMAN"...
Oil on thin board painting of a canal with figures, boats and adjacent sun-drenched buildings, possibly Venice, unsigned, measuring 6 7/8" by 11 1/2" (13 1/2" by 18" in attractive old frame). Whether Venice, Italy, or another Mediterranean locale, this is nicely executed by a trained hand. It could well be by a listed artist but without a signature it will be difficult to place the hand. The work is slipping around loose under the gold mat and it needs to be framed with acid-free materials...
Antique portrait oil painting of a Dutch Naval officer by, R Dällicker. Oil on canvas, In gold gilt frame. Purchased in England.
Age: dated 1745
Dimensions: 29 1/2" x 37 1/4"
Oil on board, 18" by 30" (23" by 35" as framed), the scene at dockside in Venice, Italy, gondolas at the ready and figures walking the dock, sun-washed buildings in the background. The painting is signed, though awkwardly, at lower left "Arthur V...
An oil on canvas laid on Masonite painting of a young brunette woman, the view from the breasts up, against a neutral dark background, signed in red illegibly at top left corner. The piece measures 17 1/2" by 12 3/4" (24 1/2" by 19 1/2" framed). More than likely the artist is French, judging from the overall style, signature, and the stenciled numbers "1208" on the frame. The artist is probably listed, but my efforts to decipher this signature have been unsuccessful. Date of execution is pro...
Late 20th century oil on canvas including a central figure, bird, young women embracing, and flowers, unsigned, painted in the style of the renowned and world-famous French artist Marc Chagall. The work, unframed, measures 24" by 20". The creator was obviously familiar with the paintings and graphic work of Chagall. Very decorative alternative to having a Chagall print.
