Oil on canvas laid on board painting of the Grand Canyon, 17" by 21" (20" by 24" as framed), apparently unsigned, circa 1940's, possibly earlier, executed in a naive manner that borders on or crosses the line to folk art. I think the technique is intentionally naive and primitive, as opposed to just the less-refined work of an amateur artist. The frame (see close-up) adds to the folk art aspects. This is a fine addition to your Southwest or Southwest folk art collection.

PAIR of unframed 12" by 9" oil on canvas paintings of colorful hanging flower baskets on traditional-style porches, each signed by artist Jan Beri. Found in Southern California. Add standard size easy to find frames and you can place these on a small wall in need of color. Nicely done paintings by a contemporary artist of talent.

A very unusual painting that looks like a mix of Japanese Anime, the Big Eye School, and a Katy Perry video: oil on canvas, 24" by 18 1/2" on the stretchers, 28 1/2" by 22 1/4" as framed, signed at lower left by artist Christina Anthony. I do not see internet information on the artist, who was technically talented. The scene is a complete fantasy, with curling red and white striped candy canes, cupcakes, and lollypops lining a curving road. Most definitely a unique image...

A beautifully crafted impressionist painting of colorful zinnias in an oriental bowl, set on a table top, a shiny coppery or brass pitcher at right, signed lower right by listed Ohio-born, California and Utah artist Frederick Ruthrauff (1878-1932). The 13 1/2" by 11 1/2" oil on canvas laid on board painting (17 1/2" by 15 1/2" in attractive old vintage gold frame) is in excellent, fresh condition; has likely been professionally cleaned in recent years. Ruthrauff was born in Findlay, Ohio...

Major geometric abstract oil on masonite painting, by Joseph Meierhans, circa 1940's. Gold leaf original frame - in excellent condition this work [image] measures app. 27 1/2" X 33 1/2". Meierhans, b. - 1890 in Switzerland, came to the United States in 1917, eventually settling in Bucks County. He studied under A.N.Lindenmuth and J. Sloan. He was a member of the S.Indp.Artists, ASL, Provincetown A.A. and the American Abstract Artists.

Circa 1970 oil on canvas, 16" by 12" (20 1/2" by 16 1/4" framed), signed at lower left "Joyce". The scene with yellow roses and oriental ceramic figure takes after artists such as Hovsep Pushman and others who in the first half of the 20th century favored such props in their still life works. This is evenly soiled, with some browned varnish too. Otherwise condition is good. The white frame shows some wear.

Painting on canvas by the acclaimed 19th century American artist HENRY STULL, featuring a portrait of the head of a pampered thoroughbred racehorse, signed at lower right and dated there 1896. Unframed oil on canvas painting of young faces, signed at lower right by artist "S. Lewis". The work measures 14" by 11". It may date to circa 1980 to 2000. Other than minor edge losses at top from frame abrasion, condition is very good, though the surface is not varnished.

Oil on canvas landscape of a forested, peaked mountain rising into scudding clouds, unframed, signed at lower right and dated 1876 by the noted well listed American artist from Massachusetts, D. JEROME ELWELL (1847-1912). This work measures 14" by 24 1/2". Elwell was intent upon his art at an early age, when he was spotted on the Gloucester waterfront sketching the marine scene, by one Samuel E. Large oil on canvas, 30" by 40", unframed, signed at lower left by the artist and dated there "30", the subject a snowy, rugged mountain range with autumnal colors and evergreens, a small lake in the middle ground. The artist, RICHARD DEY DE RIBCOWSKY (1880-1936) was a prolific painter, and a well traveled one, at that. For his time he was truly an adventurous traveler. Born in Bulgaria, he was in Paris by age 13, and Florence and St. Petersburg after that...

This portrait was purchased in Georgia from the West Family. The owner had been a partner in the Law Firm King and Spaulding. The portrait appears to be of a Lawyer or a Justice. This high quality portrait measures 20" x 16". It has been relined. We are researching this painting and will advise progress later. Our research indicates that this is a portrait of a young Joseph Story(1779-1845). This portrait is painted in the style of Gilbert Stuart.

Acrylic on canvas painting, 24" by 24", unframed, signed illegibly lower right, also dated there 06 and inscribed. I cannot make out the signature, and do not know if it be simply by an amateur of considerable talent, or perhaps, by a known artist? The signature most definitely has a professional look to it.
