Oil on canvas, 16 1/2" by 28 1/2" (20" by 32" framed), the scene a Mediterranean California style courtyard garden complete with fountain pond, palms and other vegetation, signed at lower left by the artist, one Daisy Dean Lucas, and dated there 1938. A google search shows an interesting tidbit concerning a woman by that name in Kern County, California, estranged from her apparently wealthy husband and attempting to sue him in the year 1937...

Oil on thin canvas painting of a classic American Indian with chief's feather headdress, executed in a charmingly naive style by an amateur artist around the year 1960 I would guess. The work measures 17" by 14" in its oak simple sturdy frame. When purchased it was behind broken glass, so has survived in excellent, clean condition. There might be a signature "Viv" at lower right corner...

This is a rather large oil on canvas work, 30" by 39" (43" by 34" as framed), signed at lower right "DeShazo", the subject a landscape with houses, church, and lonely leaning telephone pole. The work is not titled and the artist is not apparently listed...

A worn label affixed to the reverse of the canvas gives the title "The Suburb", 1984 date, and a 718 area code phone number (greater New York City area)...

A painting on board, unsigned, subject one of the 21 California missions, the size 9 1/4" by 12" (12 1/2" by 15 1/2" as framed). The piece has some age but is not extremely old by any means. Gold frame adds to the appeal. For your Southwestern interior.

A vintage impressionist oil on board painting with modernist touches, unsigned, 20" by 16". The work is probably by a listed artist but alas there is no signature. The almost Cubistic handling of the cloth and rear drape and the foreshortened space are most interesting. The work probably dates to about the 1940's. Unframed, and with some small faults common to older paintings, including light soiling, a few minor losses, edge losses etc.

Oil on canvasboard painting of a lonely rutted dirt track in the California desert, 16" by 20" (21 1/2" by 25 1/2" framed), signed at lower right by artist Helen Hausman. I think the painting probably dates to the 1950's or very early 1960's. It is very dirty with yellowed varnish and grime. A cleaning would work wonders.

Oil on canvasboard, 18" by 24", the subject dramatic, fluted, snowy mountain ridges pictured perhaps in late fall, as autumnal colors dominate the creekside grasses in the foreground, the painting signed at lower left "A. Nebeker" and dated there 1966. The location might be but I feel it could be most likely somewhere like Utah or Colorado in the intermountain West, or possibly the eastern slope of the Sierra in California...

An oil on canvasboard 1967 painting titled "Girl Clown", signed by listed American artist Denise Burns (born 1943). The work measures 14" by 10" (19" by 15" framed). A simple, colorful work sure to please the clown painting aficionado. Brush strokes and color reflect the skill of the artist. According to the AskArt listing for the Burns, she was born in New Jersey in 1943 and grew up in La Jolla, California...

A nicely painted oil on Masonite work featuring pears and apples arranged in a still life that is quite colorful and harmonious, the fruit softly modeled. The work measures 16" by 11 3/4" (19 1/2" by 15 1/2" in bright gold framing) and is signed at lower right with a signature that appears to be "Ardi T. Santi" or similar. The painting is very decorative and attractive in its gold frame.

Oil on canvas still life of white flowers in a vase on a table top, a decorative curtain at left, 30" by 25", unframed, signed at lower left and inscribed there "For Mother & Dad", by the listed California artist EUGENE DUNLAP (1916-1999). Dunlap studied with the likes of Jack Wilkinson Smith, J. Mason Reeves and Nell Walker Warner. An exhibitor at the Golden Gate International Exhibition in 1939, he for a good part of his life was a part of the Laguna Beach art scene...

Oil on board painting of a winter landscape, unsigned, 15" by 18" (17 1/2" by 20 1/2" framed), executed by a talented yet still naive hand, circa late 19th century. A pleasing work for the antique house or Americana and folk art collection. Notably, there is some abrasion and scratches, principally at lower left center near the fence, but also a bit in the trees at left and right and one in the sky, and varnish is yellowed.

Oil on board painting of a peaceful lake surrounded by forest and peaks in the distance, 11" by 18" (16 1/4" by 23 1/2" in wood frame), unsigned, circa late 1940's to 1950 or so, but executed in an earlier style that goes back to the early years of the century. These freely executed impressionistic works met the demand for affordable original art in the first half of the 20th century, and many are still around, though they have suffered the ravages of time...

A poetic landscape with tree and path on the bank of a small lake or large pond, signed at lower right "Zalich" or similar, 9 1/2" by 13" (15 1/2" by 18 3/4" framed), circa 1960. Condition is excellent, frame has a bit of wear consistent with age. The scene is simple but very calming.

Oil on canvas, 22" by 18" and 2 1/2" wide frame, unsigned, showing the famous Mountain of the Holy Cross in central Colorado, 100 miles west of Denver and 15 miles from Vail. This is a late 19th century painting, evidently one of many copies, by many artists, of the iconic 7' by 5' work by famous American artist Thomas Moran, which was completed in the year 1875. The painting is in compromised condition, with soiling, paint loss, punctures, and scrapes, but, I believe it worth restoring...

A contemporary American painting of a tabby cat next to a vase with flowers, 13 1/2" by 10 3/4" (16" by 13" in white frame), signed at lower right RS and dated there 2008. The artist was a talented amateur but he/she has created an attractive and coordinated scene in black, white, gray and blue. The frame has some smudges that come off with some rubbing and there are a few corner chips.

A contemporary painting of roses, painted in a highly impressionistic manner, with palette knife applying generous amounts of paint, giving the painted areas a three dimensional look, signed illegibly at lower right. The piece measures 10" by 8" (19" by 16 1/2" in attractive, complementary silvery framing). Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

Small oil on canvas laid on board, 9" by 7" framed, unsigned, the view being an extensive hazy landscape with high snowy peaks in the distance, a spindly tree in the middle ground. I have searched without success for a signature. Likely dates before 1940 and more than likely by a listed artist. Light areas in immediate foreground are probably old losses, which have been in turn varnished over.
