Oil on canvas painting of a Native American on horseback in the great American West during the late autumn months, 16" by 8", (26" by 18" as framed), signed at lower left corner with the signature and device of contemporary artist ART KOBER. Note the attention to detail that extends to even the beaded bag and every blade of grass. Kober, who maintains a website, is a noted contemporary western American artist who appeared in the pages of Art of the West magazine as far back as 1989...

Impressionist oil on canvas painting of ships in a harbor, titled on stretcher "San Francisco Bay in 1840", signed at lower right "M. McDOWD" (MARGARET EPENETER McDOWD 1894-1990). The work, 24" by 30", unframed, is masterfully painted. with excellent handling of light and color, all somewhat intentionally hazy and muted...

A circa 1960's vintage oil on Masonite painting, 30" by 18" (36 1/2" by 24 1/2" as framed), unsigned, the subject a peaceful creek or marsh land area in late autumn, one tree in full autumnal colors. This is a very nicely painted work, which could benefit from a light cleaning, but you would not have to have that done. Condition is excellent, frame has a bit of wear consistent with age. The artist handled the light and reflections beautifully.

A Fine Painting by the Listed Iowa and Michigan Artist, Vernon Leroy Bobbitt (1911-92). Lightly signed on front bottom right "Bobbitt '43", exhibition label on back as shown. Painted on the rough side of masonite. Measures about 16" by 20", overall frame about 19" by 23". Great Regionalist Look.

Oil on canvasboard painting of a greatly simplified vase with flowers, unframed, 16" by 12", signed at lower right "Dieter" and bearing on the reverse the title "Spring Bouquet" and "W. D. ZANDER/25 EAST END AVE/N.Y N.Y 10028". This is a work, possibly circa 1970's or 1980's, by a long-lived gentleman with an extraordinary life history, who happens also to have been a very talented artist. Zander was born in Germany in 1915, and educated in Neuchatel, Switzerland...

He traveled extensively and studied throughout Europe and the Far East. Mr. Gittleson was a leading American realist painter. He graduated from the Pratt Institute and was a Captain in the Army during WWII...

A highly decorative, elegant painting of Siamese cats, 22" by 24" (32" by 34" in gold contemporary framing), signed at top edge by the noted American artist KENNETH STEVEN MACINTIRE (1891-1979). Judging from the materials used, the painting was likely painted at some time from the late 1940's through about 1960, I believe. The colors used----white, gold yellows, and black----make for a highly decorative composition that reminds of the Art Deco period...

John Ulbricht, Cuba, Illinois, and presently living in Majorca, Spain, 1913-2007. He is known for Abstract Compositions as well as Figural Paintings and Drawings. This dynamic painting represents his Abstract pieces at their best. It is oil on masonite. He is listed in Who was Who in American Art. He has a extensive gallery and exhibition record and is in many museums including The National Portrait Gallery.

A vintage oil on canvas painting of a hardy desert shrub tree in the California dry lands, 24" by 20" (32 1/2" by 28 1/2" framed), signed at lower right by listed artist CYRIL ALDRITT (1899-1966). The luminous impressionist work was obviously created by a trained hand. Aldritt was a native of New York, but grew up in Hollywood...

Oil on canvas painting, unsigned, contemporary, unframed, 24" by 36", executed in retro 1960's and 1970's colors: olive, powder blue, orange, white. If your interior is modern and skewing towards the "Pan Am" days, then this will surely please. It has a few light scuffs and soiling that might be removable with light soapy water--see photos.

Large abstract oil on canvas painting primarily in black, blue and red, 30" by 48", unframed, titled on reverse "Back in Time", signed there by noted American 20th century contemporary artist CASS SHAW. Shaw, based currently in the Los Angeles area, has had wide exposure of her work, the exhibition history in the United States and France going back to the 1970's. This is one of two works by the artist in my shop (they were acquired at the same time)...

Johann Berthelsen, 1883-1972. This gem is a typical example of Berthelsen's New York Scenes. It is 12" by 15 3/4" in a 4"period French frame. Overall dimensions are 20" by 23 3/4". Signature is lower right and condition is good. His New York scenes sell for up to $45,000.

This is an original painting in gouache on paper, 23 3/4" by 23 3/4" square, in a narrow metal frame, apparently by an unlisted artist named Gertmenian. This is an Armenian name, and the painting was found in Los Angeles, where there is a large Armenian population. If you're seeking an eye-dazzler of a painting that contains strong primary colors, consider this decorative art...

Lillian MacKendrick, American. This painting is 20" by 22".

Striking modern painting on masonite panel, signed on the reverse "Kalamaras --72", likely tempera, the image difficult to describe: the viewer appears to be looking out of a green-framed two pane window at a neighboring house with reddish wall, sloping roof line, and a wooden-looking door-like window.......well, it IS difficult to describe. The work measures 19 1/2" by 15 1/2" inside the frame; inside the green outlines of the "window" the size is 14" by 9 3/4"...
