An ORIGINAL PAINTING on canvas, 20" by 38" (30" by 48" framed), the subject a panoramic view of a quaint coastal cliffside village complete with tidy white church and homes. Signed at lower right by noted native-California artist NICKY BOEHME, the work is not titled, but the scene depicted is the much-loved small town about 150 miles north of San Francisco, Mendocino, in the county by the same name (which is north of Sonoma County)...
Large example of the work of the much-storied American artist "T. Bailey", circa 1910, measuring 24" by 36" (32 1/2" by 44 1/2" framed). This is the largest example I have been able to find, after a search of the auction records...
Oil on canvas painting of a small house in the trees, 22" by 26" (28" by 32" framed), signed at lower right "Stahl" and dated there "42", titled on reverse "In Laurel Canyon" and signed and dated again there. This is an early work by the important, well-listed American illustrator artist and art educator BENJAMIN A. STAHL (1910-1987). Stahl was Chicago-born, and traveled to Mexico and apparently California as well, before settling into Weston, Connecticut and eventually, Sarasota, Florida...
Dynamic and complex, this is a colorful oil on canvas abstract, 40" by 18" (vertical format), 45" by 23" in the wood frame, titled on the stretcher "Figure in Movement" and signed nearby on the reverse canvas (a little hard to see in the photos). but, it has a significant, jagged unrepaired rip in it. I imagine the painting dates from the late 40's or the 1950's...
A 19th century American folk art painting. Oil on canvas. Early landscape painting of a likely imaginary, idealized, pyramidal mountain peak of California, (doesn't really resemble Mt. Shasta, but I suppose it could be), 20" by 16" on the stretchers, painted on canvas, 25 3/4" by 21 3/4" in a fine old gold 19th century frame, signed at lower right by artist "C. A. Simpson" and dated there 1886. The painting is firmly in the luminous tradition of some of the eastern Hudson River artists, with a pinkish glow suffusing the sky...

Oil on canvas painting of a coastal bluff with gentle incoming waves, possibly Rhode Island near Newport but most certainly New England, 12" by 16" (20" by 24" nicely framed), signed at lower right and dated there (likely, a little hard to read) 1908, by Massachusetts artist of the famous Fall River School, BRYANT CHAPIN (1859-1927)...
Unframed oil, on canvas painting, unsigned, circa 1920's or 1930's, measuring 25" by 32", the subject a rousing toast among a group of men in traditional eastern European or Russian clothing, a lone woman watching warily in the background. The painting is very dirty and as-found with craquelure. Trying to establish authorship, I contacted several prominent auction houses. One declared the painting "Brandywine School" and almost certainly by the important American illustrator artist Mead Schae...
An opportunity to acquire an original oil on canvas painting by a very highly esteemed twentieth century California artist, the works of whom have exceeded $50,000 at auction. This work is signed at lower right by California twentieth century artist ROGER KUNTZ (1926-1975). The subject is apparently a coastline with abstracted trees and houses next to a dark blue sea. The work itself measures 12" by 16" (17 1/2" by 21 1/2" in a quality frame by Munn, a respected old La Cienega Boulevard framer)...

Oil on canvas landscape of the California coast with classic wind-shaped Monterey Cypress tree, possibly the famous tree on 17 Mile Drive on the Monterey Peninsula near Carmel, measuring 24" by 20" and 1 5/8" wide vintage white painted wood frame, signed at lower right "Bessie Lasky" and dated there "41". For the collector of classic California Plein Air art, an oil on canvas work, "Laguna Waves", 20" by 24" (27 1/2" by 31 1/2" in quality reproduction gold frame), signed at lower right by well listed and often-auctioned CHRISTIAN VON SCHNEIDAU (1893-1976). The painting features true impressionist brush strokes and colors, enhanced by a recent professional cleaning which really revealed those beautiful strokes and colors. Von Schneidau was born in Sweden of noble birth. He attended the Stockhol...
A classic old landscape with figures, old structures and feathery trees, somewhat in the Old Master tradition, but created in the mid 19th century, likely in New York, by an unknown yet obviously accomplished artist. The oil on canvas, unframed, measures 24" by 32 1/4". On the reverse are two canvas stencil stamps, one from London, (G. Rowney & Co.), one from New York (Goupil & Co., 289 Broadway). The presence of the two stencils suggests that a blank canvas was imported on a wholesal...
