This painting measures 28"x22". Helen LaFrance is a self-taught, modern, contemporary artist who is 99 years of age. Oil on canvas, this lush painting of poinsettias measures 30" x 24" (sight size), with a frame that is 3 1/2" wide. The artist is Marise London, a Florida artist from Sarasota who had an art gallery there from the late 1970's til it closed in 2006. According to the previous owner of this painting it was said to have been painted in the 80's, possibly early 90's. It is signed with the artist's first name in the lower right corner, and the full name on the stretcher...

This is a very nicely executed decorative impressionistic painting of a pond in spring within a groomed park-like setting, complete with mini-island with pagoda type rock formation, all surrounded by flowering springtime trees. There might even be orange koi fish in the pond. The painting, most likely American in origin, is oil on canvas laid on board. It is signed at lower right but I cannot seem to make it out. This is a very unusual American portrait of a lady. The painting is oil on canvas mounted loosly on a cardboard with tacks. The painting is done in a many layered style which is similar to the style of Albert Pinkham Ryder (1847-1917). It is marked in pencil on the back Ms. Pitts. The painting is marked in the lower right corner with a large capital R. Many of Ryder paintings have been copied; however this would be a very unusual copy. It is a very American Portrait. Oil on board, measuring 13 1/2" by 13 1/2" and 1 1/2" wide gold frame, unsigned, depicting a number of California poppies vignetted against a neutral background. This is a very decorative painting of the California state flower, executed in late Victorian times or early 20th century when such paintings were all the vogue. This one has survived in excellent condition and would be perfect for a Mission, Arts and Crafts, or Southwest style interior. Frame has small losses.
