Oil on canvas unframed painting of two chairs and a glass-topped table on a peaceful terrace overlooking an extensive landscape, likely California, 16" by 20", unsigned. The artist is anonymous but his/her work is quite skilled and pleasing. The impressionistic handling of this scene makes for a most decorative and appealing painting. The regular size should make framing easy and inexpensive.

Johann Berthelsen, 1883-1972. This gem is a typical example of Berthelsen's New York Scenes. It is 12" by 15 3/4" in a 4"period French frame. Overall dimensions are 20" by 23 3/4". Signature is lower right and condition is good. His New York scenes sell for up to $45,000.

George Hawley Hallowell 1872-1926, Arlington, Mass. This exceptional oil on canvas is 30"x30" in a 1920's 2" period gold leaf original Newton Macklin frame. Lauber, Joseph, 1855-1948, New York. This oil on board is an impressionist style painting of a Woman in a flower Garden with Fruit Trees. It is 5" by 7" in a 2" period frame There is a Salgamundi Club label on the back. Lauber worked for Tiffany Studios and was known for his stained glass windows. He is listed in Who was Who in American Art, Fieldings, Mallett and was a student of Karl Muller, Chase, Shirlaw and LaFarge.

A charming vintage miniature pair of folk art paintings c1950s. This pair of miniature scenic view oil paintings depicts scenes the Gravenhurst, Ontario area. These 4-3/4" x 3-3/4" sight size paintings come in white painted 6" x 5" frames, and each was painted by May House. One shows "Muskoka Bay from Green Acres, W. Gravenhurst" and the other "Montgomery's Point + Gateway Hotel, from W. Gravenhurst". The kosher hotel (1949-1961) catered to Jewish vacationers from Toronto...

Found recently in Maine, this is an antique oil on board painting, 12" by 14 3/4" as framed, unsigned, the subject purple grapes and a ripe peach, the autumnal grape leaf suggesting the season of harvest, all on a marble ledge or table, with a distant view beyond. The gray academy board, style and framing suggest a date of execution of about 1880. The painting is very American in feeling, bordering on folk art as there's a naivete. The frame has wear and an obvious loss at lower left corner...
