There does not seem to be biographical information on the Hudson River-inspired artist, who likely painted these in the mid 1880's. It is doubtful that they have ever been cleaned. A well-painted and colourful oil painting on board by Frank E. Cavell (Canada, 1909-80, AOCA (Associate of the Ontario College of Art)). The scene is titled (on the gallery label on the back) "Routley's Mill Bruce County", it has an image size of 19-1/2 x 15-1/2". It is signed on the bottom/lower left. It is in a vintage 1950s gilt wood and gesso 26" x 22" frame...

Likely painted for the southern tourist trade between about 1920 and 1950 or so, is this oil on a slice of palmetto wood, roughly oval shape, approximate dimensions 10" by 13", the slab 1" thick, signed at bottom left in the image "A. Donhauser". This locale could be anywhere from Texas through Georgia, given the Spanish Moss on the tree. The palmetto slab is unusual and adds interest. An unusual item. There is a small loss on the tree trunk.

This is an oil on canvas painting (measuring 7 3/4" by 9 3/4", plus very thin simple wood frame), laid down on a board, by the noted Northern California artist JOHN HENRY RAMM (1879-1948). It is titled on the reverse in the artist's own distinctive handwriting "Looking Down Bush Street" and initialed and dated 1930 (not signed on front, but, this is definitely the artist's way of signing; I have handled a number of his works in the past)...

This is a Signed and Dated Portrait by Fr. Schell. The artist trained under Thomas Eakins and his influence can be seen in this portrait. The artist was from Philadelphia and connected with the Philadelphia Fine Arts Museum. It is mounted in a new goldleaf frame and the canvas measures 24 1/2" x 20 1/2". Excellent Condition.
