By the famous and prolific English 19th century dog artist EDWARD ARMFIELD (1817-1896), this is a classic painting of no less than three terriers chasing a rodent down a hole, and, apparently, finally cornering him there. A contemporary (new/newish) oil on canvas painting of a late 19th century hybrid sail and steamship, (of the type common in the 1880's and 1890's), 24" by 36" (35" by 46 1/2" framed), unsigned. Beautifully hand painted by an obviously skilled artist. Condition is excellent. The attractive framing is very heavy and apparently of a dense wood. These sorts of paintings though not old and antique are appealing and being of more recent origin are usually found in good condition...
