A subtly elegant watercolor and ink drawing on a rice-type traditional paper, the subject bare autumn or winter trees around a small body of water, the work signed in characters at lower left, also signed in English "Jim Zhang", and bearing at upper left the red seal of the artist. A decidedly modern watercolor painting of five liquor bottles, painted in mid century colors, 11" by 15" inside the mat, 23" by 30" in interesting, vintage rubbed reddish gray wood framing, signed at lower right by artist "Linahan". I have been unable to link this to a known artist. The black outlining style of the imagery and, especially the colors chosen by the artist suggest a late 1950's or early 1960's date...

Original antique English watercolor titled "Fox Gloves by Stream" signed by Joseph Poole Addey (1852-1922), dated 1889. Addey was an especially gifted watercolorist. This is a nicely executed watercolor showing one of northern New Mexico's picturesque historic adobe churches in winter, signed at lower left by contemporary artist JOHN S. McFEDRIES. I do not see a listing for the artist but some other works by him can be viewed on the net. The painting measures 10 1/4" by 16 1/4" inside the multiple mats (21 1/2" by 28" in its bleached wood framing)...

Watercolor on paper painting of classic buttes and mesas of the great Southwest, possibly Arizona or Utah, 22 1/2" by 28" as framed, the work signed in very small writing at lower right with what appears as "E. T. Bell" and dated there July 4, 1933 (or, possibly, 1935). The painting is a strong watercolor by a talented hand but if I am reading this correctly, there does not appear to be a known artist of that name...

Circa 1870's watercolor, in Victorian or turn of the century gold frame, signed at lower left. Signed by an apparently little known artist, Carl H. Schmidt. The watercolor measures 9 1/2" by 13 1/4" (21" by 24 1/2" framed). The scenery portrayed is perhaps in the Northeast states. When I originally acquired this item, it was with a watercolor of Florida (copied from a Currier and Ives print), signed by the same artist. That piece, of the same age as this, was sold separately.

Small (8 1/2" by 7" framed) painting of a Russian Orthodox cathedral, dated 1998, ink writing in Russian at bottom. The colorful swirling domes resemble those on Saint Basil's in Moscow, but this is not an urban scene. Condition is excellent.
