Original gouache by Louis Wolchonok (American, New York, 1898-1973). This painting measures 15" by 5" (22" by 12" in its original frame). It is signed l.l. "Louis Wolchonok". Wolchonok is known as a painter, etcher, and author. He studied at the Academie Julian, at the NAD, the Cooper Union, and the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Art. Well listed, exhibited, and collected.

A simple yet satisfying little watercolor depicting central Paris along the river Seine, Notre Dame in the center distance. The work is signed at lower left by French mid century artist Fernand Guignier and dated there 1966. Guignier is listed, with some auction records, but there does not appear to be an extensive biography.
