A simple yet satisfying little watercolor depicting central Paris along the river Seine, Notre Dame in the center distance. The work is signed at lower left by French mid century artist Fernand Guignier and dated there 1966. Guignier is listed, with some auction records, but there does not appear to be an extensive biography. Typical works are in watercolor medium and feature Montmartre and scenes around the Seine in the center of the "City of Light"...

Nicely executed little watercolor of a woman in her nineteenth century finery, 11" by 7 3/4" as newly framed behind quality Tru Vue glass, unsigned. Her dress looks like circa 1860 but I do not know for sure that this would have been painted then. It would make for a pleasing addition to a woman's bedroom or sitting area.

Watercolor on paper painting of a traditional Chinese junk near the shore of a reedy body of water, 15" by 11 1/2" (20 1/2" by 16 1/2" in simple blond wood look framing), signed at lower left in pencil with what appears to be the name "Tang". The transparent washes and deft handling make for a pleasing and calming image that is a fine alternative to a print. The work is affixed or pressed against the backing by the glass---there is not a proper mount.

Unsigned watercolor landscape painting, late 19th century American origin, the subject a chilly shoreline including snow-covered shacks, two figures, and a small overturned boat in winter storage, measuring 11" by 21" inside the mat (16" by 25" as framed). This is a primitive work, the figures a bit small and out of scale, and therefore a charming work, rather typical of late nineteenth century American watercolor by self-taught artists. A watercolor painting featuring a scenic view of what I believe to be the cliffs of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, signed at lower left by California artist Dolores Manning. The 20" by 14" work (26" by 20" framed) is by a woman artist who recently passed away in Malibu, California. A number of her works were available for purchase at the estate sale. Apparently she had lived in the San Francisco Bay area (Moraga, CA labels on the reverse of several) and also in the area around Lake Tahoe...

This is a fine 1919 work featuring roses and their stems and leaves, signed at right center by artist A. E. DALE and dated there 1919. I do not see a listing for this obviously talented artist. The painting, 17" by 13" inside the mat and 23" by 20" framed, is in amazingly fresh condition considering it was painted nearly 100 years ago. The paper is not yellowed and there is no foxing. The frame is contemporary and in excellent condition...

Watercolor on paper drawing of a homey mid 19th century interior in America or England, measuring 9 1/8" by 11 5/8" as simply framed, the work signed "Sketch/Walter Richards" at lower right in white. This was probably preliminary art for a more finished drawing or painting by this well known freelance illustrator. The drawing contains a lot of detail for its modest size: five figures are about to eat soup from a cauldron at midday...

Everyone seems to love Paris, a city which has inspired and continues to inspire much art. This pair of watercolors, one of the elegant and timeless Place Vendome, the other the famed "Le Dome" cafe of Montparnasse, are signed by artist "Hrobel". Each measures 16" by 24" (26" by 33 1/4" as framed). The pair is ready for the wall, with clean blue mats and tasteful cream frames. The colors are not faded and there is no foxing nor water staining...

Framing circa mid 1960's included the old fashioned detail-dulling non-glare glass which should be discarded. The work measures 14" by 10" inside the mat and 19 1/2" by 14 1/2" framed. Condition is excellent other than being laid down, and rusted tack holes in each corner, easily hidden by framing...

Watercolor and sepia brown ink on thin paper drawing of swans in a pond surrounded by vegetation, the sheet itself 5 3/8" by 11 5/8", apparently unsigned/undated, and with no watermarks I can see. If I had to guess as to age and origin I would say circa 1800 English, possibly later 18th century. The drawing is in very good condition for its age, with quite fresh colors. Someone in more recent times affixed it with adhesive to the overmat, but only at the bottom margin where there was original...
