Henri Edmond Cross, French, 1856-1910. This exquisite watercolor is 18.8cm W by 13.8cm, 7 3/8" by 5 7/16". It is signed lower left H Cross and is framed in a newer frame. Provenance: Private Midwestern Collection, Kinney Fine Art, Private Collection Robert Nasso by direct descent from his Uncle, Purchased in France during the 1940's.

One of three works in my shop by the same artist, F. KENWOOD GILES of Bermuda (1899/1900-1972), is this watercolor on paper painting, 18" by 22" (the largest of the three works) inside the mat, 26" by 30" as framed, (no glass and frame loose), the subject a white-roofed island homes on a finger of land bordered by water on several sides, flowering shrubs, coconut palms, a few pines or cedars, a meandering unpaved road and some small boats in the harbor completing the happy scene...

Original ink and watercolor drawing of historic houses in New Orleans, signed at right by artist Jean Johnson and dated there 1968, and titled at left "Cottage, Hoggle Place" or similar. The work is detailed and very nicely handled. I cannot locate information on the talented artist. Measurements are 10 1/2" by 14 1/2" (16 1/4" by 19 1/2" framed). The photos were taken through the old detail-dulling non-glare glass (which I suggest be discarded)...

Nora S. Unwin 1907-1982 British/American This is a fine watercolor painting by American artist Nora S Unwin. The title, inscribed on the backing board is: A Memory of Greece. This painting is hand signed and dated 1966 by the artist. The image measures 13 1/2X17 1/2 inches. Unwin was the well known artist and illustrator who lived and worked in Peterborough New Hampshire. This watercolor on artist board is in very fine condition.

Lago Maggiore late Nineteenth Century watercolor Artist B. Clark 13x9 inches,framed size 19x16”

Watercolor painting of a scene that appears to be a youngster with adults at the entrance of a school, a total of five figures in the composition. The work, 13" by 10 1/4" (20" by 18" in a contemporary gold frame, no mat) is signed at lower center by well listed German artist CARL HUBNER (1814-1879). Hubner was educated in art at the Art Academy in Dusseldorf. He received instruction from Carl Ferdinand Sohn and Wilhelm von Schadow...

Watercolor on paper of a large ship at the dock, 13 1/2" by 17 1/4" (21" by 26" framed), signed in the image at lower left and also on the mat at lower right "Herbert Manasse", and titled "ENSENADA 'L.'C.I." on the mat at lower left. The artist is HERBERT MANASSE (1891-1965), who according to the AskArt listing was an artistically talented attorney. He was obviously quite familiar with the medium. Note the wet-on-wet technique in the sky...

A PAIR of watercolor paintings of classic scenes of Montmartre, each 8 3/8" by 10 3/8" (and each 15" by 17 1/2" as identically framed), each signed at lower left by French artist AMEDEE PREVOST. One work features the white Sacre Coeur church dome in the distance, figures and an artist completing the scene, the other work featuring a street easel artist painting a picturesque old house...

"Harbor Scene" watercolor on paper 36 1/2" x 30 1/2" framed \ 20" x 16" view size Painter. Born in Matthews, IN on Nov. 9, 1902. At age five Faivre moved with his family to Portland, OR where as a teenager he studied at the Portland Art Gallery and privately with Howard Ellis. He moved to Los Angeles in 1923 and worked as a freelance commercial artist and in the late 1920s went north to San Francisco...

Original watercolor by Nechemia Stencel (Israel, 1904-1991). This mid-century work depicts the old Jaffa clocktower built during the Ottoman period. Signed "N. Stencel" and also in Hebrew l.r. 23" by 29" in its frame. In excellent condition.

Watercolor painting titled on the mat in ink "Rockport Bay", the subject small craft in a sheltered small harbor framed by distant hills. The artist signed the drawing at lower left "Norma Page Aug. '45" and again signed, this time on the mat, at lower right. There is another word after "Page" that appears as "Douyes" or "Damyes" or similar, but I am unable to locate a listed artist by any of these names...

The artist, born in France in 1893 to a French political minister, is said to have studied with Monet, Picasso, and John Singer Sargent (see printed label on reverse, with short biography, from the old Beverly Hills-based Martin Lowitz Gallery)...
