Moses and the Brazen Serpent c 1597 Francesco Villamena (Italian, 1566–1624), After Ferraù Fenzoni (Italian, 1562–1645 Italian). Fantastic Renaissance engraving, there are only 3 copys I could find one in the Metropolitan Museum, one on the Boston Museum of art and One in the Royal Collection Buckingham Palace. A large engraving of a mythological scene of Venus after her bath getting ready for a date with Adonis. The print was made by Etienne Baudet the French engraver who also worked in Rome. It is dated 1672. The print is after one of a series of 4 paintings by Francesco Albani that were commissioned by the Duke of Mantua in 1621. The painting that is the source of this print is now in the Louvre. Sight size 23 ¼ by 27 inches (59 by 68 cm), overall 28 ¼ by 32 ¼ inches (72 by 82 cm)...

The Boydell Gallery of paintings from Shakespeare must have been an amazing site in fashionable London in the early 19th century. The publisher, John Boydell, commissioned some of the leading artists of the day to paint scenes from Shakespeare and to display the paintings at the publishers Shakespeare Gallery in Pall Mall. The Gallery published large prints after the paintings in a portfolio that reached 72 prints...

A print titled, “LE DEPART D’UNE FIORE” on heavy paper with the colors brown blue red/pink and black on white paper. Sometimes I find it difficult to determine if the colors have been applied to a single plate or if the print has been made with a separate plate for each color. This print feels as if it was printed with more than one plate because of the mixing of colors in some places and the clean separation in others...

From our European Collection, a very good 17th century copper plate engraving, most likely English circa 1650-1700, depicting a Chinese official accompanied by his entourage, with subjects kowtowing in the foreground and a crowd of spectators to the rear.

Size and Condition: 7 inches by 5 1/4 inches, very well preserved with only slight creasing.
