A very impressive limited edition bronze sculpture, "To Take a Scalp", 1978, by the important American western sculptor artist ROBERT "BOB" SCRIVER (1914-1999), measuring 19" by 13" by 11" high and weighing over 40 pounds on its own without a plinth or base. The work is numbered "3" (of a likely very small edition) and bears a dedication "To Bette From Bob Scriver". The work displays a fine greenish patina. Acquired by me in Palm Springs, said to have come from a large New York collection...

It is quite appropriate that a French sculptor created this bronze of Cinderella, for after all it was a French author who gave us the modern version of the beloved fairy tale of the young woman who went from riches to rags to riches with the help of a fairy godmother.
She is seated somewhat forlornly holding a spindle of yarn, but it is the two objects behind her feet which give away the story...
