From our African Collection: African Bronze Horse with Figures Riding from the Niger Delta, 9" x 5.5"h.

Bronze Sculpture is Signed number 14 of 100, two pieces each measuring 5 x 9“, the second piece 4 x 7“. Aharon Bezalel was born in 1926 in the city of Harath, Afghanistan. Those of his generation born in Israel are often described as having been “born of the sea”, their backs to the Diaspora, facing a ‘new world' whose culture, still hesitant, had just begun to take shape. Fine Tibetan antique bronze figure with traces of red orange paint. The sculpture shows Vajradhara ( Manjushri), in his tantric aspect in embrace with his consort, Shakti, in a position of sexual union known as Yab-Yum literally Father-Mother in Tibetan and Maithuna in Sanscrit. Size H 4.5" d 2.5" w just under 4"

A heavy bronze mid-century sculpture on a wood base, signed (incised) J. Soriano, measuring approximately 14" by 9" by 8" (bronze itself), the wood base about 10 1/2" high.  Note the fine lustrous brown patina. The signature is spurious, the work not by the famous Mexican artist sculptor Juan Soriano (so determined by correspondence from the representative/expert of his estate), but the anonymous work stands on its own merits, and it is likely to be of Mexican or South American origin...

Signed Japanese Meiji Bronze Hawk Okimono on Rockery base, highest quality sculpting with details to every feather . The hawk is holding down another bird and 2 of its feathers lay on the base stand of the sculpture. The hawk was sculpted separately from the rockery and it was completely hand worked and then applied to the main sculpture. One unique thing about this piece is that the hawk was cast as one piece when most all other hawk or eagle sculptures were cast with detachable wings for ease ...

19th C Continental Gilt Bronze pair of Woodsman and Wife , probably Dutch extremely detailed pair of gilt bronzes notice the patching and repair to their clothing . The couple looks lovingly at each other while working. The figures were cast in 2 pieces each and assembled and mounted to a slate like bases. Very heavy pieces. Size approximately 12"

Rare bronze shishi statue by renaissance artist/potter, Tsukigata Nahiko. This solid and impressive bronze is well sculpted with wonderful details and prominently signed on the rear depicting the "god of wealth or household", Daikoku with his mallet and bag of plenty, one of the Seven Lucky Gods but cleverly represented by a shishi, lion dog which Tsukigata used in a number of his bronze sculpture. This bronze measures approximately 13 x 13 x 15cm, weighs a bit more than 4 kilos is in excellent...

A fine cold-painted Vienna bronze eagle of the highest quality and unusually large size. The painted decoration is wonderfully complex and detailed. The bronze is marked "Austria" under the tail feathers. We have seen this exact bronze with Franz Xavier Bergmann marks.

Origin: Austria, ca. 1900. Condition: excellent, only the faintest paint nicks are the tips of a few features and beak. Dimensions: 9-1/4" x 6-1/2" x 5-1/4" high.
