Erika Hult de Corral, the award-winning modernist Taxco designer who studied in the Parson’s School of Design in Paris and worked with Sigi Pineda and Enrique Ledesma, is one of the few exceptions for which I will cross the 1980 terminus in my jewelry selection. de Corral came into her own in the 1960s and 1970s, a bit later than most of the Taxco maestros, and her creative streak took her well into the 1980s...

Circa post-1980, this Matl necklace was produced by Ricardo Salas. Ricardo Salas worked with his aunt, Matilde Poulat. After her death in 1960 he continued producing her designs, as well as his own.

Measuring a closed, wearable length of 19 1/2", this looks spectacular on the neck. There are ten panels with amethysts and turquoise cabochons, each measuring 1" tall. The side panels each have turquoise cabs.

Amazing very big statement vintage 1980s French plastic necklace with black and white laminated and finely textured plastic beads, a marbled center pendant, large and small goldtone metal fluted beads, and matching clip earrings.
