The orange-brown "kaki" glaze is a staple of traditional Mashiko ware that is used infrequently these days. It is made from the locally mined Oya stone. A beautiful Lladro figurine named Valencian Children created by sculptor Francisco Catalá was issued 1986 and retired in 2008. In mint condition, it measures about 10.5" x 11".

Porcelain Lladro figurine "Puppet Show" by sculptor Joan Coderch, it is a heart warming scene of a boy with a puppet on each hand entertaining a dog and 2 cats. Issued in 1991, it was retired in 1996. In mint condition, this figurine measures 6" high (base measures 5 x 3.25). More photos available upon request.

Mashiko-yaki plate with modern pattern in green and brown glaze. Made by Okamoto Yoshihisa, a craftsman in Mashiko in Tochigi prefecture, north of Kanto district. In excellent condition. Contemporary. 25.5cm x 22cm x 1.5cm

Japanese Ceramic Wall Vase, or Wall Pocket for Ikebana flower arrangement with green drip glaze on brown rope twisted surface, hole in the upper back to hang on the wall. The condition is good.

By the important bi-coastal art pottery makers and teachers VIVIKA and OTTO HEINO, a squarish shaped wall plaque or plate, somewhat concave in design, 11 3/4" diameter by 11 3/4", signed underneath VIVIKA + OTTO. The piece is a natural reddish-brown color with a glaze applied, and bamboo sprig or grasses motif makes for a simple and elegant organic work with an Asian touch. Ceramic works by the couple are prized in the art pottery market, appearing at auctions...

A Japanese Kutani porcelain Koro or incense burner, with a round body raised on three animal-mask legs and applied with shishi-mask handles. The domed, pierced cover is surmounted with a further shishi. The whole decorated in overglaze enamels with peacock and golden pheasant amid rocks and peonies, all on a yellow "roe" ground. Marked with a seal to the base "Kutani" amidst scrolling clouds, it dates late 20th C, circa 1980, and is in excellent condition...

A porcelain two handled bowl with applied porcelain flowers and a fruit finial with bold floral decoration combined with gilding. Though the form is likely to be derived from early Meissen, the decoration is much later in tone. Unmarked though there are indications that there may have been a mark on the bottom at one time. 4 ¼ inches (11 cm) tall, 6 ½ inches (16.5 cm) across the handles.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs...
