Indigo-dyed heavy cotton shop Apron, for a Sake purveyor, central logo reads “Cha” (Tea, the common name of drinking establishments in old Japan was “Cha-ya,” or “Tea House.” Stencil-dyed on both sides with shop name and address, braided cotton waist tie. All lines read right to left, and top to bottom, in the old pre-WWII style. Unsure on actual readings, but meanings are clear...

DESCRIPTION: A fine hand stamped sterling sunburst design pendant with a large, high quality Cerillos mine turquoise stone set in shadowbox style. Reverse is stamped, “E. Bilagody, Sterling.” A Navajo silver artist, Ernest Bilagody is based in Gallup, NM. Late 1900s, excellent condition. DIMENSIONS: 2-1/4" x 1-5/8"

Shirakura Kanyu(1896-1974) was a Nanga painter(the Southern school of Chinese painting), born in Niigata Prefecture in Japan. He studied under Hattori Goro(1869-1930), and after moving to Tokyo he studied Western painting under Hakutei Ishii(1882-1958).Afterwards, he returned to Nanga, and after moving to Kyoto, studied under Tajika Chikuson(1864-1922)...

Enamelled copper snuff bottle. Decor of flying cranes in a reserve on a yellow background. The stopper is in cast bronze and chiselled with care. The prestigious mark of the emperor kien long is affixed under the base but, unfortunately, it is apocryphal. The rod and the teaspoon are made of metal. I think it's a Chinese production of the 20th century. Probably from the end. Height about 7cm. A chip on the foot (see photo) which does not harm the aesthetics of the object.

This is an excellent and intricately carved very charming netsuke, made by our own Pennsylvania native, David Carlin. He describes it as a "Model of 3 elderly bearded gentlemen, each leaning on the back of the other with the first two carrying blind man's canes. The third holds a bottle into which "DC" is etched in a double square cartouche. Each dressed in a robe with a rope belt.”. Natural Himotoshi is formed by the first Blind Man's arms. Netsuke is heavily polished...

This very well carved two-tone hard stone snuff bottle is a 1980's product. It depicts an old sage chatting with a young man under a pine tree. It is 3" high, 2" wide and 1 3/8" thick with a red carnelian and silver rim cap. It is in great condition.

A limited edition, pencil hand-signed print "Shepherd of the Plains", after a painting dated 1988, the print issued 1989, by the important contemporary artist of the American west, HOWARD TERPNING (1927-). The work measures 9" by 9 1/2" (image area), and 16 1/2" by 16 1/2" in attractive gold frame. The signature is at lower left, where the print is numbered 494/1250. Condition is excellent, everything clean and fresh. Terpning is likely the most important contemporary western artist...
