The image shows a reclining prospector under his draped tent with his buddy cookin' up some vittles...

A motorcycle & sidecar tintype circa 1905 with a historic view. This scarce, very early photograph is on a late tintype (photo on treated metal blank) and this 2-3/8 x 1-5/8" (view area) image consists of a young motorcycle rider astride the bike with a rather concerned-looking grandma in the sidecar. Three other ladies stand behind her, and there is an Edmonson's Red Seal Toffee pail in the middle of the road (road hazards were a little different in those days...)...

Unsigned hand-tinted photograph of a stream/pond scene. Image size is 5 7/8 by 3 3/4 inches, mat size is 9 5/8 by 7 5/8 inches. Framed size is 10 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. Condition is good with a water stain on left side of mat near frame, small white spot on mat in upper right of image. Pre-1940, original frame and backing, very minor damage to lower right frame corner. Horizontal coloration difference is due to lighting when taking photo of framed work, not a flaw.

This is a Japanese military map of North Asia dated 25th/29th July, 12 Year of Showa reign. This is translated to the 12th year of Emperor Hirohito’s reign. He became emperor in 1926 and died in 1989. Add the 12 year to 1926 that translate the map dating to 1938. Offered is a lovely, double, gutta-percha photograph case holding two mid 19th century, Civil War Era tin types of two different women.

The double gutta-percha case measures 2.5 inches wide x 3 inches long x .75 inches deep when closed, and 5 inches wide when opened. The case appears to be in excellent condition!

The two cased tin types are each further framed within different press-molded, thin, ornate, brass frame and behind a little pane of glass...

Cute embossed Halloween post card illustrating a boy using a giant jack o'lantern to scare a grown man. The man's hair is sticking straight up and his cap is flying off! The front is marked "Copyrighted 1909 By Julius Bien & Co., N.Y.". The back is marked "'Halloween' Series Number 980". Postmarked 1909. Condition: bright coloring, some light creasing, softened edges and corners.

Nice vintage embossed Halloween post card showing a boy carrying a black cat past a glowing jack-o'lantern. The illustration is unsigned, but looks like the work of Ellen Clapsaddle. Marked on the front with the letters "LSC" around a circle with a "C" in it. The back is marked "Series 226E". Unused. Circa 1910. Condition: softening along edges, nice color.

Albumen photograph of two Bedouin musicians seated in front of a backdrop with their string instruments. Numbered 613 and titled “Joueurs de violon Bedouins” in white in the negative and signed, “Bonfils.” The image is 8 ¾ x 11 inches (22.5 x 28 cm) mounted on card 11 x 13 ½ inches (28 x 34 ½ cm).

Condition; photo in good condition, though the contrast could be a little stronger. Mount discolored, some foxing and soiled along some edges.

This is a James William Shipler early historical photograph of the laying of the capstone of the Salt Lake City Mormon Temple, April 1892. The image area measures 6 1/2" by 9" and the entire piece with likely original turn of the century Victorian style frame is 14 1/2" by 16 1/2". Shipler (1849 - 1937), left McKeesport, Pennsylvania in 1887, seeking adventure in the great west. He opened studios in Denver and Great Falls, Montana before arriving on the scene in Salt Lake City...

George Washington Wilson (Scottish, 1823-1893) was already a successful photographer with a large business in Aberdeen when he made a photographic journey to the Outer Hebrides in 1885. A Jack of Hearts playing card shot through the heart, signed J.W. Hardin in the bottom right hand margin and for Mr. Ford in the bottom left hand margin along with 3 words I cannot read. The handful of other known examples, estimated to be between 6-17 appear to be from the same deck. The gunslinger was part owner of the bar and gambling venue and he reportedly signed these cards for patrons as a souvenir of a shooting demonstration he put on for the Fourth of July...

The image is almost certainly a tinted salt print mounted between two pieces of glass and matted to appear similar to a daguerreotype. Most of the original paper seal is still on the glass, but where it is missing the edge of a piece of paper is visible between the pieces of glass. It is translucent when held to a strong light. Overall 6 ¾ inches by 8 ½ inches.

A rare piece of ephemera, this standing Wedding Dinner Menu from 1915 gives us a glimpse into food and style from the past.
