Oversized limited edition Japanese woodblock print by Shimoyama Tsutomu (b. 1945) depicting boats in water viewed from above traditional rooftops. The print is pencil-signed, titled in Japanese kanji, dated '77 and numbered 4/50 in the bottom margin. Paper size: 15 5/8" x 21 3/8" (image: 14 1/4" x 19 5/8"). Very good overall condition. There is some minor paper wrinkling in the margins and the back is faintly browned...

Early vintage rosewood & sterling silver dish or ashtray designed & signed c. 1930's by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The piece measures 3 1/4" across and 1 1/2" high. The hand carved octangular wood holder is inset with a hand hammered 980 sterling silver liner. Signed twice - WS TAXCO 980 on the silver, also WS TAXCO branded into the underside of the wood. Spratling always branded his wood furniture and objects. Beautiful condition...

Dresden Plate design quilt, c.1930's. The white cotton quilt measures 55" by 76" and there are 12 squares, made of different patterns, with a pink patterned border. Hand made Baskets quilt with 15 baskets applied on diamond-shaped square. Hand stitched in patterns all over and in fair condition. Baskets and stitching are fine but there are stains on the quilt. This Miao Chinese ethnic minority jacket would have been worn by a teenage girl for festival. All the batik work was hand-painted and all stitches and embroidery was done by hand. The row of silver hemisphere's across the back represent the "bubble" in the Miao creation myth.

The jacket is approx 70 years old and is from Zhi Jin

Makanai which is a kimono worn at home after work in the Nanbu region, where is the east part of Aomori prefecture. It is made of hemp cloth whose wefts and warps are hand-plied and lightly vegetable indigo dyed. The lining is machine-spun cotton. It has very fine sashiko with indigo dye cotton yarn. In good condition but has light stains in front as well as in the back. The last image is from the book "Michinoku-no-Kohu-no-Sekai" by Tanaka Chuzaburo. The first half of the 20th century...

A large pair of decorative vases painted with a pattern of stylised peonies in underglaze blue and gilt set against an iron red ground. The vases are of compressed mallet shaped form with wasted body and flared mouth, a form used at the Fukugawa factory from the late 19th century onwards. Probably early 20th century in date.
