Whimsical modernist lamp which certainly looks like a Venini. The shade is lattimo with a transparent gold pink bow. The brass base is good minimalist modern design and adequately supports the shade. A fitted gasket facilitates a snug fit of the shade. Measuring 13"x15"x18"h., the lamp is unmarked

Like a Venice evening, this amazing murrine lamp rediates a soft, colorful ambiance when lit. The brass parts have a nice aged patina. The lamp had to be re-wired, as the original 90 year old vintage wire was frayed. Otherwise, the lamp remains in its original pristine condition and is an amazing example of the skill of the Murano Glassblowers. The lamp is documented in "Catalogo a stampa Fratelli Toso, 1920 ca",page 41.

Splashes of earthen color decorate the deep sides of this large open dish by Living National Treasure Tamura Koichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The bowl is 15-1/2 (39 cm) diameter, 4 inches (10.5 cm) tall. The box is worn but still sturdy, and the bowl is in perfect condition. Koichi graduated from the Tokyo University of Fine arts Where he later taught), and took up an apprenticeship under (later) Living National Treasure Tomimoto Kenkichi...

Enigmatic green and red florals capped by ascending butterflies alternate with bird images in the cathedral-like windows on the side of this large vessel by Kyoto artist Yamazaki Koyo enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The vase is 13-1/2 inches (34 cm) tall and in fine condition, dating circa 1950. Koyo (1890-1979) studied under Kiyomizu Rokubei VI, and was displayed consistently in many National and Local Exhibitions...

20th century glass Venetian Figurine in excellent condition, although unmarked, is probably made by Seguso or Barovier. I am advised by an expert in the field that the leaf supporting the figure at the base suggests Seguso. The polychrome canne jacket and the abundant gold leaf applications illustrate the mastery of the Muranese glassblowers. The figurine is 10.5" tall, in great condition, obviously kept in a cabinet over the years, and bears an import label.

This man's beaded hat aka skullcap is typical of the Pashtun people in the region of Southern Afganistan. Because of the extensive beading pattern, it is rather stiff and heavy.

Presumably, the interior layer of fabric was from pieced of fabric from other garments.

This is beautiful piece that can be used as a candlestick holder or a small vase. It has a lovely Scandinavian, flowing design. Made of sterling silver, it stands 5 1/8" tall. Its base has a diameter of 3". It weighs 3 ounces. The base is marked with a whale hallmark and marked DENMARK. I have left it unpolished. It is truly beautiful and in excellent condition.

Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print depicting a pavilion on Peony Point (Botan-dai), Pyongyang, Korea and is No. 28 from the series "One Hundred Views of New Japan" by Hiratsuka Un'ichi (1895-1997). The artist's red ink Hiratsuka Un'ichi seal is at the lower right. The black ink title and artist's red "Un" seal is at the upper left. Known to date to 1940. A wonderful kabuki Isho Ningyo of the actor Ichikawa Danjuro IX performing as the lion dancer in the performance of Shukyo Kagami Jishi in March 1893 at the Kabukiza Theater in Tokyo. He wears the traditional flowing red wig. Beautiful details abound here with handsome, sumptuous brocade. The pose and high quality of this dramatic masterpiece indicates it was done by an important Ningyo master. Height: 17 inches, 43 cm.

A large papier mache lacquered plaque or tray made for export or sale to foreigners during the early 20th Century. This raised relief design incorporating the "Satsuma cross" motif is very common on low grade tea and coffee sets made in vast quantities for export during the 1920s and 1930s. It is unusual to see this brocade style pattern depicted in this medium. Condition - good...

Stunning French mahogany canoe circa 1930's. Just under 15 feet long with solid gunwales and keel. The French call these Canadian canoes although they were built in France between the 1930's-50's. This early version features 1-1/2" wide internal ribs that eliminate the need for lengthwise running boards. The hull is secured with copper and brass nails from the outside in. No damage noted, although it could probably use another coat of marine-grade varnish. Made by, “Rocca”...

Charming stylized donkey in the "colorization without fusion" technique by Ercole Barovier. On a recent visit to Murano, I showed a photo of this donkey to Lino Toso, director of the Barovier Toso Museum, and he said he could confirm 80% that this is the work of Ercole. The donkey measures 5.25"h x 2.25"w x 3.25"d, in good condition, unmarked.

A wonderful heavy sterling silver double jigger by modernist silversmith Alphonse La Paglia. The two tapered vessels are joined by a series of silver spheres and rings that are reportedly intended to represent flower bulbs and roots. The overall appearance is severe and very elegant. Sumptuous in its expression of the sensual qualities of glass, this stylized sculpture of a figure in repose by Livio Seguso is signed and in excellent condition. The solid glass sculpture weighs 12.5 lbs, measures 6"w x 6"d x 8"h, and was well protected over the years by four felt pads at the corners.

Superb Murano glass figurines by Alfredo Barbini. A colleague in Venice who is a dealer in Vintage Murano Glass told me he witnessed these figurines being made at the Barbini factory in the 1950's. Japanese Fukagawa porcelain vase decorated with the double arched bridge (Nijyu-bashi) of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Singed by the artist、Zippo Araki (1872-1944), in underglaze blue beside his two red seals. This bridge was the one of first place to have electric lights from gas lights in Japan. Mt. Ruby and crystal cornucopia pair in excellent condition. These can be vases, but the horizontal presentation of the cornucopia pair is sculptural and dramatic.
