Vintage Chinese soapstone small brush rest carved to represent a Taihu scholar’s rock with numerous perforations and crevices. A fine tea bowl in Gohon Hagi glaze decorated with the characters Haku-un (White Cloud) by Shimizu Hian enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 12 cm (4-3/4 inches) diameter8 cm (just more than 3 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
Shimizu Hian (1883-1975) was a popular poet and painter of the early modern period. He graduated law studies from the prestigious Kyoto University, and took a position in Kobe District Court...

WEARABLE ART: This skirt is made out of an old Japanese man's obi belt, chrimen crepe silk with hand tie-dye "shibori". Freshly made out an obi from early 1900 to 1940. Medium size with elastic waist.

Chinese ornately carved wall hanging, highly raised and detailed pierced carving of pair of phoenixes with blossoming peonies, other small birds on rocks and branches, round form, minor repairs, early 20th century. Size: 25" wide diameter x 5 1/4" deep.

This well carved turquoise snuff bottle is 2 ½ inches tall, 1 ½ inches wide and a little more than 1 inch thick. One side depicts a standing smiling Buddha (Hotai in Japanese), the other side is plain. The snuff bottle was made in the 1970¡¯s. It has its original cap carved from the same turquoise as the body. It is in excellent condition.
