This pair of club chairs that we call Bern Cinema Clair have an rather light tone which is unusual for a pair as old as this. Circa late 1930's, this pair was surely inspired by Jacques Emil Rhulmanns' famous Elephant Club chair. This styling kind of opened the floodgates to more dramatic expression with the form of most French leather Club chairs from that point on. This is a dress panel made by Kuchi nomads from Afghanistan, with mirrorwork (shisha) and extensive beadwork. This textile represents the most common form of the amulet, the triangle. Decorative embroideries such as these are used as a protective element in central Asian cultures. The mirrors as shiny objects are incorporated into the embroidery and are believed to avert the evil eye, or reflect and hold its image thus absorbing the destructive powers...

Chinese Green glazed Monochrome Pottery temple Joss Stick Lamp on wooden stand, 12" high to the top brass fixture, 5 1/2" wide bass, newly converted to Lamp, ready to use. The condition is good.

This is a very nice ivory lion head walking stick. The lion features some pretty carving and he has clear glass eyes. The shaft is ebony and the ferrule is also ivory. This stick measures 35 1/2" x 2" x 1". The handle is 3 1/4" x 2" x 1". The ferrule measures 3/4".

Unique Chinese yixing teapot with rondels of marbled clay surrounding the teapot and on the cover. The spout and the handle are modelled in a bamboo design with a pig finial on the lid. There is a four character impressed mark on the base, as well as a different four character impressed mark on the underside of the lid.

Age: Purchased as an antique teapot. Actual age is not known

An exceptional pair of near perfect condition Art Deco design and period 'Gueridon' form side tables. The tables with circular tops 27.5 inches in diameter, 28 inches high. Lower shelf 17 inches in diameter and elevated 8 inches from floor. Table top composition consists of eight pie shaped quarter sawn burl maple veneer pieces which center an ebony bulls eye. A hand-embroidered bag made by Pashtun nomads from Ghazni province (probably Katawaz), Afghanistan. Floral motifs combined with arabesques in herringbone stitch in silk thread on a purple silk background. The Bokhara couching technique is used to maximum effect, where the metallic threads are laid parallel to each other and fastened at regular intervals by tiny red stitches.
