This pair of embroidered squares were made by Pashtun nomad tribeswomen of Hazarajat. They dazzle the eye with their vibrant colors and mirrored discs ("gul-i-peron") which enliven the quadrants of each textile. Each square measures 24.5 x 24.5 cm and is embroidered in silk thread on a green silk background, depicting radiating solar motifs in a carefully composed symmetry...

American Modern sterling silver flask, ca 1920. Rectilinear and curved; cover hinged, threaded, and cork-lined. Front engraved with a camel, a paragon of drought survival, standing on parched ground with scattered shoots of greenery. In background are palm trees and pyramids. Splendid Japanese incense container, also known as kogo, used for tea ceremony. The persimmon has a small lady bug sitting near the head of the persimmon. The incense container contains an inscription reading: Rakushisha, which is a small hut in the Sagano district of Kyoto. The hut was the summer home of Matsuo Basho's disciple, Mukai Kyorai. The hut was given the name when a hurricane blew all the persimmons off the trees planted in the estate...

Fostoria Chintz Tri-Candy is in mint condition. Chintz - (1940-1977) - This beautiful Fostoria etching is pattern #338. It measures about 7x7x7x3.5" high. Chintz enjoyed a long production period and was one of Fostoria's most popular etchings. The Chintz line was extensive and the pattern can be found on many items. The hand woven back panel is divided into 3 scenes; the most dominate being a peaceful scent of Mount Fuji with a Japanese coin centered below it. A Chinese famille-verte enamelled porcelain brushpot, with multiple warriers on horse and feet. Scenes separated by a band around the pot with a ruyi head top border and a wave bottom border. The inside and base glazed white, the rim left unglazed. No markings.
