This Tibetan wool sash measures 12.7 cm x 340.4 cm in length including the silky fringes. The tigma (cross) motif is an ancient good luck charm among Tibetans and here it is depicted in a discontinuous weft pattern design. These sashes are traditionally worn to secure the traditional Tibetan attire called a chuba. The high lustre of the wool is attributed to the high lanolin content of the goat wool in the high altitude regions of the Tibetan plateau...

Japanese mitsugiri-ban format vertical shin hanga woodblock print by Takahashi Shotei, also known as Hiroaki (1871 - 1945) depicting a female figure holding a lantern and walking through blossoms at night. This image is one of three variant designs titled “Spring Evening” published by Watanabe circa 1936. The title “Yayoi” is in black at the lower right and there is faint unreadable evidence of a red artist’s seal below it...

Vintage Japanese Komai metal obidome (sash ornament) with gold and silver decoration of bamboo stem and leaves. Obidome is worn on an obi cord that holds the obi sash together, it is the only type of jewelry worn by Japanese women on formal occasions, and could serve as netsuke as well. Nice design, great quality crisp metalwork, two fittings for a cord on the back, a few scratches to the front. Stamped AMITA SILVER on the back. Length 1.18 inches.

A Ruskin pottery vase by William Howson Taylor typically copying a Chinese Song dynasty shape. It has a purplish pink lustre "souffle" glaze and on the base is the impressed date 1931. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 11cm (4.3 inches) high.

A lovely Japanese fruitwood tray produced in the late Taisho period. The scene was hand carved with a thin gold gilt applied in the carved areas. The tray was made from one piece of wood and has a beautiful warm patina. In excellent condition, it measures 10" diameter and the rim is 1.5" high.

Bubble was produced by Anchor Hocking from the 1940's through 1965. The sapphire blue color is a beautiful light blue unlike any other depression era color. A vintage Japanese 2 section Kamo Kimono Tansu chest made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia). All original hardware with maker's name engraved into the main lock plate. 4 pieces of Nara Uchiwa whose history dates back to Nara period (A.D.710~794). It began as manual side line work of the Shinto priest of Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara. The traditional motifs (Tenpyo Moyo) such as peonix, deer, kylin (imaginary animal), dragon, Parrot etc. These four (originally five) were made by Ikeda Gankodo which is only existing maker of it in Nara. A rare and beautiful Murano glass vase made by Barovier & Toso around 1950, in their 'Laguna Gematta' decor. The aqua-colored vase has embedded flecks of gold, which is typical of Laguna/autumno Gematta decor. The vase is 11 1/2 inches (29 cm) tall, 8 1/4 inches (21 cm) wide at the top and is 5 1/8 inches (13 cm) deep. It is in fine condition, without chips, cracks or repairs (there are some usage scratches at the bottom, as expected). Polished pontil. Unsigned, as expected.

Tsugaru kogin kimono made of vegetable indigo dye hemp whose warps and wefts are hand plied. It is made in Tsugaru region in Aomori prefecture in Tohoku district. Kogin-sashi is one kind of needlework (sashiko), stitches with white cotton yarn go horizontally and make geometrical patterns. It makes the hemp kimono warm with thick kogin in the cold district like Aomori, where it is hard to cultivate cotton. Both sleeves are "tsutsu-sode...
