A decorative 1960’s tile or wall plaque of long-necked giraffes, by Helmut Schäffenacker, Germany (1921-2010), internationally known for his works in various artistic techniques. Signed with model number 476 and Schäffenacker, Ulm/Do(nau), Made in Germany and Handgeformt (hand made). Original sticker. Height "14½/ 36 cm, width "4¾/ 12 cm. Condition: fine.

Like a Venice evening, this amazing murrine lamp rediates a soft, colorful ambiance when lit. The brass parts have a nice aged patina. The lamp had to be re-wired, as the original 90 year old vintage wire was frayed. Otherwise, the lamp remains in its original pristine condition and is an amazing example of the skill of the Murano Glassblowers. The lamp is documented in "Catalogo a stampa Fratelli Toso, 1920 ca",page 41.

A large sculptural vase by Eiraku Zengoro XVI (Sokuzen, 1917-1998) enclosed in the original signed wooden box dating from the 1950s, an era when Japan was redefining its own views on art. This is an excellent example of work from that time. Born into traditional tea ware, Zengoro XVI was with the rest of his compatriots, experimenting with new ideas and new forms, unafraid of a dawning new era.
