Impressive Mashiko iron glazed jar with impressed design by Sakuma Totaro (Japan, Mashiko, 1900-1976). Circa 1950s. In excellent original condition. 21cm high, 19cm across. Sakuma Totaro was one of the most important potters in Mashiko in the 20th century, as well as Shoji Hamada's friend and "partner in grime" (Robert Yellin).
Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print titled “Shop Girl” by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) dated 1960. Signed in black ink at the lower right. Paper size: 15 1/4" x 10 1/2" (image: 15 1/8" x 10 1/4). Very good overall condition and color. Trimmed margins. A color illustration of this print can be found on page 111, plate 338, of the 2003 catalogue produced by the Kiyoshi Saito Museum of Art, Yanaizu.
Red Tole deep Tray for Bread or Fruit, 12 1/4" x 8" wide, 3 5/8" high, Rose branch in the center and floral vines inside under the top rim, the condition is good.

Two very playful Southeast Asian panthers skillfully carved from red palm wood. They can be displayed on any one of 3 sides and look as thought they were designed to be viewed in whatever position you place them. The wood is heavy and dense feeling very much like a hardwood and weighs about 3 lbs. In excellent vintage condition, they measure 9.5 inches long by 5 inches high. Dates early 20th century.
Teapot, milk jug, cup and saucer, a solitaire service made by the Carl Knoll factory in Czech Carlsbad / Karlovy Vary. Cross-striped like the Victorian bathing-suits – just a coincidence or might there be a thought behind this design? Carlsbad was a fashionable 19th century spa, famous for its hot springs. Impressed mark for 1848 – 1868. Height of teapot "4 ½ / 11 cm including handle, diameter of saucer "5 ½ / 14 cm. Condition: a nick to the cup (cf. pics).
Six(6) Japanese Gilded on Copper Hardware fittings, early 1900's, 2" wide, 2 1/4" deep include long nail, loose 3 pieces fit together tight once nailed in place. One of them has old black lacquer finish and most of gilt finish worn off, no missing pieces.
Very nice 2 Japanese Gilded and Lacquered on Brass Fusuma Sliding Door Handles, early 1900's, 3 1/4" diameter, 1/2" deep, impressed vines design on rounded soft brown Lacquered Brass front with gilded Brass rims, 2 nail holes on the sides, the condition is good, probably used in very elegant and important home in Japan.
Two(2) Japanese floral shape darkened Brass Fusuma Sliding Door Handles, early 1900's, 3" diameter, 5/8" to 3/8" deep, 2 nail holes on the sides, some black lacquer on brass are worn, metal part is in good condition.
Two(2) Japanese darkened Copper Fusuma sliding door Handles, early 1900's, 3" high, 2" wide, 1/2" deep, 2 small nail holes on the side on top and bottom, the condition is good.
Japanese "Tokugawa" Shogun Clan Mon polished Brass decoration, early 1900's, 2 1/2" diameter, 3/8" deep, with impressed raised design of 3 Hollyhock Crest, 3 small nail holes at the edge. The condition is good.

Dark blue over camphor Galle cameo miniature vase. This 4 1/4 inch tall vase is just the right size for that little empty space in your vitrine. The blue forest scene is very nicely carved with the high points of the design having a glossy finish. The vase is signed (see view 5 in the photographs) and there is no damage.
An antique Chinese hardwood side table with tier. the circular marble plaque inset has a lotus petal edge carved with prunus, openwork floral apron joined to zoomorphic supports with paw-and-ball supports.

An antique Chinese hardwood low table (Kangzhuo) has an inset with floating top panel and is framed by a bamboo image on the edges. The edge scrolls down the legs. The side panels have prune wood images in low relief.
