I visited the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC a little more than a year ago and saw some really creative ceramics with leather incorporated into the composition among related, sculptural works. It did make a spontaneous and lasting impression that led me to recognize and purchase a wonderful and unusual work by the same hand found in an antiques and collectibles market.

Both Qingbai wine pot and its matching warmer are gracefully glazed in the color of greenish jade. The pot has a seated animal atop its cover while the wine warmer is shaped like a blooming lotus-flower. Both pieces boast of their refined workmanship whose history may be dated back to the Song Dynasty (960-1127)...

A fine and complete set of Tibetan saddle Rugs. The set is composed of a woollen saddle blanket in butterfly shape and a matching saddle seat cover. The central medallion decorated with pair of Snow Lions playing with pearls, beige on red ground; borders with stylised dragons, red and blue on beige borders. A beautiful matched pair of German porcelain by Goldscheilder and artist Helen Deidloff, known for her beautiful work. The pair of figurines depicting Chinese Qing Dynasty children. Can be purchase separately both date from 1950s each measuring 14” tall and have a 4.25” square base

Japanese limited edition woodblock print by French artist Paul Jacoulet (1902-1960) titled "Sunset in Menado, Celebres" (Coucher de Soleil a Menado. Celebres) published December 26, 1938. Executed in a soft palette, the print depicts a nude male in a subservient position to the female standing over him. This print is illustrated on page 55 (plate 53) of “The Prints of Paul Jacoulet” by Richard Miles, 1982. It is described on page 100...

Orrefors Fishgraal (Graal) vase, circa 1954. Large crystal vase with fish swimming in pond with pond weed. Rarer, near spherical form. Signed ORREFORS/Graal No. 1159 H/Edward Hald. Piece measures 5 inches (12.7 cm) tall and is 5 3/8 inches (13.6 cm) in diameter. Highly reflective and gives illusion of many more fish swimming in pond. Condition is excellent,has minor surface scratches but no chips, cracks or repairs. Age appropriate scratches to base.

Beautiful piece of the Edo Period of Japanese design

In mostly satin stitch and cross stitch in silk thread, this piece measures 45½ x 36½ inches (115.6 x 92.7 cm). Saye goshe are an Uzbek V-shaped fringed hanging used to decorate piles of quilts when they are stored during the day. The blazing colors on this textile depict traditional Uzbek motifs with stylized pomegranate flowers. Still living in yurts, the Lakai Uzbek have perfected the interior decoration of their homes...
