Vintage Korean front opening bandaji (storage chest) decorated with white brass hardware incised with fish and yin/yang designs. The front drops open to reveal three interior drawers and a removable shelf above a large hidden lower compartment. Complete with the original functioning key and lock, which is finely incised with a calligraphy motif. Side carrying handles. This mask represents a tiger, note a very fine work of sculpture with the gouge, the deep carvings are highlighted with a white coloring. These glass tear catchers or weeping bottles were for saving tears of grief. Such blown glass receptacles were placed on dressing tables, and on the first anniversary of the death, the tears were poured over the grave. This bottle is 7 3/8" long by 9/16" in diameter.

Embroidered in satin stitch in silk thread on a fine cotton linen ground, this napkin measures 37.2 x 37.8 cm and is estimated to date from the mid to late 20th century. Such textiles are unique to the Hazara, Shi'ite Muslims who comprise the third largest ethnic group of Afghanistan, forming about 19% of the total population and inhabiting mostly the central provinces of central Afghanistan. This textile is in excellent condition overall with only one small stain.

Japanese 20th Century porcelain vase. Made by artist, ITO SUIKO. ITO SUIKO is the art name, or GO of ITO YOSHIHARU 1894-1980. Born in Kyoto, Japan, ITO SUIKO studied ceramics under ITO TOZAN I and ITO TOZAN II. He first showed at the TEITEN in 1929 and established his own kiln in the GOJOZAKA area of Kyoto in 1931. The Djompre are a small ethnic group with their homeland in the Benue Plateau State in northern Nigeria. They call themselves Kutep or Kutev, the denomination Djombre - which means cannibals - has probably been given to them by the neighbouring Chamba.

This lovely Fostoria rose pink June etch tidbit, snack, or lemon handled plate is in perfect condition. The acid etch features two large tied ribbons trailing along the rim with spring flowers. It is slightly flared sitting on a collar foot. Just a lovely piece that would make a lovely gift or to display your homemade goodies. It is 8 1/2" long including the handles, and 7" wide. I have other Fostoria and elegant glassware in my inventory.....
