This Uzbek embroidery dating from the early to mid 20th century is embroidered on a mauve linen background. Two embroidered bands are joined together in exceptionally fine cross stitch and satin stitch to form interlocking geometric motifs and chevrons in silk thread. Condition is excellent. 15.5 x 34.5 cm.

A rare and very finely decorated Chinese porcelain vase depicting a flowering peony shrub painted with fencai/famille rose enamels.

On the base is the iron red four character mark "Shen de tang zhi" -the "Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue" which was located in the Old Summer Palace, the Yuanmingyuan, which was destroyed by European troops in 1860. A woman's shirt front from Baluchistan, mid to 20th century, in a combination of blanket stitch, herringbone and satin stitch on green cotton in a diamond repeat pattern. It measures 30.5 x 47 cm. A dress ("pashk") covered with detailed embroidery is everyday attire for Baluch women. The embroidered diamond repeat pattern is known as "paraiz zarto" in the language of the Baluch. This is a small round Continental silver repousse Vinagrette box made in Italy, circa 1925, the lid having a pictorial scene with a man playing the cello to an audience surrounded by a scroll border, the sides with swags and garlands, gilt wash inside, marks worn but decipherable, fleur de lys Makers Mark, MADE IN ITALY, COPPINI, 800; Measures 1 5/8 in. diameter. Overall condition is very good with some wear to the gilt. A nice container to hold pills or a tooth for the Good Fairy.

Japanese Washi Paper Book, Ca. Meiji Period, 8 3/4" x 6 1/4" wide, 3/8" thick, approximately 60 pages Japanese Kanji on double Washi Paper, the condition is good.

Japanese glass ojime in a form of tombodama bead with pink body and twisted ribbons forming a brocade pattern. Tombodama can be translated as “dragonfly ball” and the name is thought to come about because when the molten glass is applied to the core bead it resembles a dragonfly’s eye. Superbly made piece, in perfect condition. Height 0.65 inches.

This is a museum quality embroidered wallet from Katawaz in Ghazni province, Afghanistan. The embroidery technique is called couching, where the gold metallic threads are meticulously laid down in neat parallel rows, and then fastened down at regular intervals with tiny orange threads...a very labor-intensive embroidery technique that cannot be accomplished with a sewing machine. Mirrors are strategically placed to ward off the evil eye ("djinn") and embellished with blue seed beads...

Bowl or ashtray from Marcello Fantoni, Firenze (Florence), 1950’s. The upper part made of yellow clay with an orange coating, the base of brown clay. Heavily chamotted. Signed Fantoni, Italy and (possibly) a model number. Diameter "4¾/ 11,8 and height "2½/ 6,5 cm. Condition: fine.

Beautiful acacia wood dining set consisting of a banded dining table with four leaves (all with aprons), two armchairs and 10 sidechairs, a large server, a small server and a china cabinet. All pieces have carved knees and other carving as well. The table measures 61" closed x 42 1/2" wide. With the four leaves it expands to over 10 feet and has center legs for support. The double serpentine large server measures 66" long x 21" deep x 36" tall, the smaller server measures 42" long x 19 1/2" ...

A night in the summer when fireflies wink their light. The exquisite moment at dusk is finely depicted on the decorative gold leaf background. It is in excellent condition. This piece is a pair with another fan item# 1118796.
