Unusual early Showa period (1930s) ceramic sake cup made in nerikomi (agateware) technique, its body with vertical grooves all around the perimeter. Nerikomi (translated as “mix and pull up”) is achieved by laminating different colored clays together and throwing them on a wheel to develop a swirling and spiraling effect. This is a very detailed sculpture of a deity standing on top of an elephant who stands on a ball. This is a very unique sculpture in excellent condition. Notice the impressive details all over this piece, including the feet, the design on the deity's dress and the details of the pearls. Also take note of the carving of the wood on the bottom of the piece. Such a great find! This piece measures 10 x 6 x 4.
This porcelain group was produced in Denmark by Bing & Grondahl between 1948 and 1951. The model number is 1581. It measures 4 1/2 inches high and is 4 inches wide. The four monkeys are modeled with charming character. They are huddled together for warmth and support. The group is hand painted in earthy tones.

Measuring 29.2 x 33.6 cm, this textile is from central Afghanistan, home of the minority Hazara people who are Shi'ite Muslims, inhabiting at least three or four provinces (Jaghori, Bamiyan, Orugzan, Wardak). The embroidery on this textile is exclusively silk herringbone stitch on an ivory cotton linen ground. The textile is in good condition overall with some mild staining. Estimated age: early to mid 20th century.
