Schmieg & Kotzian were master craftsmen who moved from England to the United States. Established in 1897, the company was active until 1954. They were renouned for their exquisite design and superior quality traditional handcraftmanship. Among pieces of traditional furniture, they also made cabinets for Steinway pianos.

A vintage Japanese book box called Honbako made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. 2 Hinged doors open to a storage space with a removable shelf. Below are 3 drawers where personal effects were stored. Original hardware including the Warabite handles. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and wood dowels to hide the nail connections.

This is a very Handsome pair of all original French Club chairs form the late 40's, early 50's. They sit deep and comfortably. They have their original velvet cushions. An American Brass Occasional Table with a Circular Top Supported by a Base Formed by Three Entwined Dolphins. Height 28", Width 18". From the 1920's. One small dimple on the top, otherwise in excellent condition.
Pair of monumental sized Chinese coromandel type screens. Four panels each, for eight panels. Incised and polychrome lacquered decoration of immortals in heavenly palace-garden landscape. Good and serviceable condition. Vintage, probably about mid 20th century or earlier. Height, 8 feet high (about 244 cm). Width, each panel 16 inches wide (about 40.64 cm each panel).
A vintage Japanese contemporary low Mizuya Tansu made from solid Keyaki (Zelkova) wood. Two sliding doors open to a spacious storage area. Three side by side drawers along the bottom with Hikute iron handles. Taiko drum nail heads decorate the sliding doors and horizontal side bars add structural strength as well as aesthetic beauty to the chest.

Pair of pre-war Art Deco era side stands. Heavy, solid wood with burl wood overlay. Each stand has a drawer with an open display shelf just below. The lower portion of each stand makes an artful curve into another open shelf. Great condition with excellent burl wood figuring.

Wow, this is what they all want the perfect, partially restored nailed head, 1930s French leather Club chair. Back and bottom cushions have been restored with our signature Pyrenees French leather.
