Katana

Katana and related accessories from the Muromachi and Edo periods onward. The katana (刀) is the longer sword (Daito, 大刀) of the two swords worn by the Samurai class. Swords with a cutting edge measuring two feet or more are considered to be daito. An earlier version, originally used from horseback, is the tachi (太刀).
