A beautiful square cover embroidered in silk threads with botehs and volutes. The ground fabric is a block printed twill weave, edged with a silk velvet border. Cotton lining. Chinese Export Porcelain Platter for American Market with family Lion crest, and initialed Seal inside the Shield supported by two(2) leafy branches, orange reddish overglaze Lion on top, later part of 1700's to early 1800's, 19" wide, 16 1/2" high, 1 3/4" high, heavy orange peel surface, with cobalt blue border high lighted with brilliant gold. The condition is good, some of the enamel colors on the family Crest area is slightly rubbed off from usage.

Antique Japanese single section isho tansu (clothing chest) with two large drawers. Made all of sugi (crytomeria) wood with deep reddish brown lacquer finish on the drawer panels and black lacquer top, sides and front frame. Iron work includes two elaborate lock plates, raised seed pods in corners, and moko shaped drawer pulls. From northern Japan, possibly Nigata area. Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) Size: 18 1/2" high x 32 1/4" wide x 15 1/2" deep.

A Han Dynasty terra cotta horse head with a very animated expression. There are some traces of red pigmentation on the straps of the horse head.

The horse head has abrasion , wear and tear due to the long period of burial. Otherwise it is in good condition.

A heavy Japanese iron, 19th Century, teakettle in the form of lotus leaves, with a small crab clinging to the pot. The tetsubin, with handle, measures about 7 3/4" high x 6 1/2" in diameter, and weights 58 ounces. The bronze lid is signed "Ryubundo". The condition is excellent/perfect, and it can still be used. This kettle's exterior has a beautiful dark brown patina. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

Nagoro banana leaf tray lacquer over wood. The black lacquer shines through the red to reveal the ribs and veins of the leaf. In the literati tradition, banana leaves were used by scholar recluses as paper to write calligraphy. Later, this motif was incorporated into other forms of art making the image one of the symbols of the literati aesthetics.

19th century kokutan (ebony) netsuke of a standing shishi (Buddhist lion), its mouth open in a snarl, the back arch and tail raised. Perfectly captured essence of the beast, fantastic depiction of its fur with different curls on different parts of its body, great patina with characteristic ebony sheen. Signed in 2 reserves on its behind - the most probable reading is SOSHIN. Extraordinary rendition of a beast. Length 1.28 inches.

Beautiful Meiji Period C.1890 maki-e raised gold lacquer Tachibana citrus tree with silver inlay cherry blossoms floating around the Tachibana tree. Some of the Tachibana citrus fruit also have silver inlay. Lacquer on rest of mirror case is Nashiji or speckled gold lacquer. The pad the mirror rests on is hand dyed sarasa with natural vegitable dyes from India. On the back of the miror is " Made by Takashima Sagaminokami Mitsutada". 12" tall by 8" wide. 18th century netsuke of a reclining monkey, its front paws and upper body resting on a large chestnut. Very strong early piece, great thoughtful face, excellent incised and etched hair, wonderful detailing of its fingers and toes. Netsuke of characteristic 18th century triangular section, warm yellow patina (darker on the bottom where netsuke was touching the silk of kimono), large and deep himotoshi in accordance with the habit of the time. Length 1 15/16 inches.

The ground fabric of this man's garment is a light, greyish silk damask with stylized endless knot pattern. The front overlap closing is fastened with five pierced gilt metal ball buttons.
