The vase is decorated with a mountainous, rocky river landscape that depicts brightly robed scholars at leisure in pavilions within bamboo groves, pine trees and birds formations, all between decorative bands and keyfret scroll. 19th century wooden netsuke of a group of three eggplants: the larger one is ripe, its skin ruptured to show the flesh of the vegetable, and one of the smaller vegetables is hollowed and lacquered on the inside to be used as a sake cup. Cleverly designed, superb detailed carving - see the texture of the vegetable in the ruptured area, very pleasant wear consistent with age. Early 19th century boxwood netsuke of a standing blind masseur with a staff in his hands and a habitual bump on his head. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - red lacquer over black, so as it wears the black and then wood starts showing, thus adding yet another color to the piece. Wonderful elegant carving with fantastic sour face and clean lines of his robe, rich warm patina. Height 2 1/8 inches.

An absolutely lovely large terracotta head of a female deity, perhaps Aphrodite/Venus, Hellenistic or early Roman, 2nd. century BC-1st. cent AD.

The unusual head is not hollowcast but solid and done in the fine Hellenistic or early Roman style. She is tilting her head slightly to her left and has an elaborate headdress.

Size: c. 10 cm. tall and 7 cm. wide and weighing 252 grams.

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in France by a Paris manufacturer in the 1880s. It has a spurious Sevres mark on the bottom. The saucer has a diameter of 4 ¾ inches and the cup is 2 ¼ inches high. The ground color is deep cobalt blue. A large, Museum Quality pottery figure of a male attendant carrying a flask or a vase under his arm. The figure dates to Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD.

The figure is placed on throne made of Lotus flowers on the top of hexagonal plint, both in fine Sancai colours - a two-colour green and yellow glazed robe.

19th century Chinese rootwood carving of an ascetic dancing on the back of a turtle. The figure depicted is that of lohan Lu Ao who lived on the back oh a large turtle for 3 thousand years. Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Glazed Buddhist Jar

This large and impressive pottery jar was made around the 13th / 14th century, during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) or the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). Until recent years, this type of jar was almost unknown in the west with some people initially attributing them to the Liao Dynasty (same general period but in the north of China). These jars are now known to have originated from Yunnan province in the south-west of China.

A fine and early Bow porcelain Blanc de Chine thinly potted coffee cup with raised prunus blossoms and an angular crabstock handle.

Excellent condition with no cracks, losses or restoration. Slight and scattered tiny spots of kiln spitting as to be expected. The height is 2 9/16" and the bowl diameter is 2 7/16".

Rare Ceramic stirrup spout vessel with seated Scorpio. Moche Culture, Peru, 100 BC to 700 AD.
