Old 'Katsura ningyo' (lit. 'Wig doll') carrying a baby on back, originally made for the noble girl's play in the Edo period, as the original form of today's dress-up doll. Meiji period (1868-1912). Box: approx. 16.7 x 10.8 x 3.7cm (6.57 x 4.25 x 1.45in). Some expected damage around due to aging as is, but comparatively in good condition for this type of aged doll...

Chinese porcelain ‘bird in bamboo’ vase; fine depiction of birds amongst bamboo and other florals over rocks; inscribed pattern within double borders below rim; a light celadon glaze overall; good condition; email for more pictures

Quality Chinese porcelain famille rose bowl; Guangxu Period and mark; decorated with four gilt bordered figural roundels; millefleur decoration completes the exterior; the internal shows a slightly worn gilt and iron-red dragon at the base with a polychrome ruyi head border below the rim; shows some rim gilt wear and a short glaze line that does not go through to the exterior; rings perfectly when tapped; good condition

A Finely Decorated Imari Dish. The centre with a basket of flowers on a floral ground. The base with a four character Fuki Chosun mark 'Riches, Honours and Everlasting Youth'. Japan 19thC. Diameter; 31.3 cm. Condition: slight wear to gilding.

Sterling silver 62 inch hand forged watch chain with an unusual S shaped spiral link that mimics the neoclassical ornamental ironwork designs of the 19th century. The hand forged links are repeated all around the chain. This chain is completely made up of these neoclassical style links. It has a round bolt clip from which you can add a pendant. It can be worn with a suit or a tee shirt and will look terrific with either.

A desirable circa 1830 American tin "tole" box with charming original stenciling of leaf motif on the front, 8 1/2" by 6" by 6", in a rare pink-salmon color. Most of these of course classic folk art pieces are black background with floral motifs painted thereon, in red/green (roses etc.) and some yellow. This color is just spectacular. I'm not a toleware specialist by any means but cannot recall seeing a tinware American box of this color...

A Very Fine Korean Bird and Flower Scroll Painting-19th C.: Korea, late 19th century. Painted with a couple of Pheasant, maple, peony and sun with rocks, Painted in bright colors on paper and scrolled later. It’s in good condition but slight fainted in colors, it measures 43.75" x 19"painting only, or 67.5" x 23.75" overall

An example of American folk art drawing: watercolor of roses on the stem with leaves, created circa 1840 by an artist working in the distinctive style of the time. The piece measures 9 1/4" by 7 1/4" (12 3/4" by 10 3/4" in faux wood grain frame of the period). Since it is that old, the paper shows evidence of the great age; there is browning/foxing at lower corners/along right side as shown...

A very attractive pair of matching floor or wall tiles, Western Europe, ca. 12th.-14th. century AD.

Finely made with a slightly trapezoid cross-section and very thick in hard red stoneware. Green glazed with 4 rampant lions on one of them and the other with Fleur de Lis. The style of the Lions points to Brabrant or Flandern, the Fleur de Lis to France, the glazing perhaps to Germany. Garanteed medieval pre 15th. century AD...

A very rare intact pottery Jug, Varde in Denmark, ca. 16th.-18th. century AD.

These black-glazed pottery jugs and pots were made from medieval times to 19th. century. This particular jug is one of the finest examples we've seen from the region around Varde that produced the best pottery in Jutland. Finely made with glossy black glaze.

Size: 22 cm. tall, incl. the intact lid.

Condition: Completely intact with lid, rare as such...

An antique Japanese Isho (clothes) Tansu made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Hike handles. The lock plates feature a Plum Blossom knob and a full moon back stop. Features 5 large drawers and a hinged door that hides 3 small drawers. Side swivel handles allows for a wood pole to pass through allowing two persons to carry the tansu from location to location. Two small carrying handles on each side allows for placement...

A PAIR of antique watercolors circa 1880, the subject violets and other delicate, small plants of the woodland floor, in identical worn gold frames. Each watercolor painting measures 6" by 5 1/2" (shaped top) and the works as framed measure 12 3/4" by 12 1/4". The artworks are in excellent condition; backing to which they are affixed need to be replaced due to damp stain at lower portion. These survivors of the Victorian Age reflect the care with which the anonymous artist created them. See ...

An antique Japanese Kotansu (personal storage chest) made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware with a Paulownia family crest front lock plate. Two hinged doors open to an array of 8 small drawers each used organize the previous owner's collection of smalls. The iron stand (a recent addition) was used to raise this chest off of the floor to make it into the perfect side table.
