A beautiful set of ten small shallow dishes, each uniquely decorated with a poem and image from the Edo period Sasashima Kiln of central Nagoya. The box, titled Sasashima Yaki Teshio Jumai (10 Sasashima Salt Dishes) is dated inside to the Tenpo era, (1830-1844). Each dish is 9 cm (3-1/2 inches) diameter and all are in excellent condition. Marvelous core Assyrian style depicting an offer scene: A manheaded and winged horse / winged Kentaur is bending it's knee to the great King or perhaps Sin the moon god, below the winged sun-disc emblem of Ashur. He is holding the beast, while another deity comes running swinging a sword. An attendant behind.

Interesting and elaborate cylinder seal carved in greyish black stone, with a bearded whorshipper standing before the combined alters of Ashur and Sin or Nabu. Nice Assyro-babylonian style and fine details.

Scarce and attractive steatite scarab of the New Kingdom period, inscribed with the royal name / cartouche of Seti I, 1294-1279 BC.

The snuff box is made with a mold in 2 parts. On the sides are two Buddhist lion heads in relief, their eyes are made by 2 small clay balls. stuck to the slip. The decoration is painted in underglaze cobalt blue, the design is vigorous and goes to the essential, it represents 2 dragons pursuing the sacred pearl in the sky, surrounded by clouds and sparks. A large lozenge shaped bowl of thick clay covered in fawn spotted glaze by Kiyomizu Rokubei V decorated with a poem by Hashimoto Kansetsu enclosed in the original wooden box signed by both artists titled Gohon Fuseikei Hachi (Bowl of irregular shape in Gohon glaze. It is quite large, 34×26.5㎝ x 15cm (13-1/2 x 10-1/2 x 6 inches) and is in excellent condition.
Hashimoto Kansetsu (1883–1945) was born in Kobe, son of painter Hashimoto Kaikan from whom he gained a love of Chinese culture...

A set of two very decorative Islamic tiles with floral motifs in fine colours, Qajar or earlier, c. 17th.-19th. cent. AD.

Unresearched but guaranteed at least from the 19th. century, probably older. With fine crackles in the glaze and a wonderful brownish patina on the backside.

This is a Japanese antique textile indigo dye cotton narumi-Shibori kimono meiji　period. This is a very rare and beautiful item created using 11 different Narumi Shibori techniques. An unusual Seto Tea Bowl, shaped like a flower in the upper area, with stunning glaze and a wonderful foot ring, made around 100 years ago during the Taisho Period (1912-1926).

It is in great condition with no chips or cracks - ready to use for the tea ceremony.

Ceramics produced in Seto City are known as Setomono (Seto ware), which has become a generic word for ceramics not only in Japan but also world-wide...
