Antique Medieval 12th-15th century A.D. hand-forged iron sickle, with slender blade and short flat tang.
This type of sickle was part of the equipment of mounted warriors, a tool useful during military expeditions to cut the grass for the horse. A knight should also have a leather or canvas bucket for watering the horse.

Four perfume bottles, all in white opaline: the first decorated in gilt with winding morning glory, a very small enamelled bottle, a matted opaline and enamelled bottle and a bottle with a blue snake. A Japanese woven bamboo reed ikebana basket. Of small size and fine work. Having handled a good number of ikebana baskets over time, this one strikes us as quite sophisticated. Of baluster form, meticulously consistent woven pattern, defined foot and rim, sparse and well balanced decorative intertwined bamboo shoots across the face, and confidently woven handles. Excellent condition. Height, 8 inches.
Each mirror is carved with scrolling floral decoration and silver gilt on linden wood. The main body of the mirror is oxidized and cut. The surround is individually fitted on to outer frames. Late 18th to early 19th century silver tribal Indian amulet with low relief depiction of what looks like 2 meditating yogini seated in lotus pose. Pendants of that type are known as patris, they were made and worn by the tribal gypsy people of Rajasthan and Gujarat for good luck and protection. This is a beautiful Meiji era Cloisonne vase. It is larger than most of these intricate panel vases and stands 7 1/2 inches tall. Looks great, but does have a tiny craze line in the right upper corner of one blue panels.
Antique Chinese carved jade snuff bottle. An even pale green jade carved with peaches on one side and four characters on the other. The jade is an even tone accented by two slightly diagonal striations running through. The lid is a mottled yellow glass and bronze with a bronze spoon.

It was carved by a late 19th century or early 20th century artist Ryuzan (柳山). It depicts a smiling mother holding an umbrella and carrying a child on her back. It is 7 1/2" high and 2 3/4" wide (from the bottom) and 2 3/8" thick (from the bottom). It is in great condition.

These bottles are decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and colored enamels with a design of various painted fans floating on an iron red enamel ground that is covered with gilt spirals. The interiors and mouthrims are clear glazed. The bases are glazed clear and the footrings are unglazed, exposing the fine white porcelain paste. An interesting Cambodian cast bronze statuette representing the Hindu god Vishnu standing with his 4 arms. The bronze bears an excellent original patina which confirms the dating, 12th century Khmer art.Typical clothing and jewelry.

A wooden plinth was made around 1900 to stabilize the statue.

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Royal Doulton in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 3 ¾ inches and the cup is 1 ½ inches high. The set is made of fine bone china. There are pink borders with light blue enamel panels. All of the segments are decorated with ornate raised gilding. The well of the saucer, interior of the cup and handle are gilded. This demitasse cup and saucer is incredibly delicate and delightful.

The rim is decorated with facing Oceanus heads alternating with fishes. The finely rendered heads show bushy beards extending to both sides and goat-like ears. The lobster claws expected in the hair of Oceanus are mistakenly rendered as ram horns, the usual attribute for Zeus Ammon.

Cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay dating to the late Momoyama Period. Shape and style make it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls.
The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical black oniita engobe inside and outside - with the exception of the bottom - over which a white, feldspatic Shino glaze has been poured. Just the foot ring and its immediate surrounding was left unglazed.
