A lovely high quality flintlock pistol with 2-staged barrel in brass, London marks, made by Bate, late 18th. cent.

All brass construction except for the lock. The lock is marked "BATE", the top barrel flat at the breech end is marked "LONDON" and the left rear flat is marked with two crown over crossed scepter proofmarks. Light floral scroll engraving on the breech end of the barrel, trigger guard, wooden ramrod with swelled head and mounted with a full walnut stock...

Young woman's katabira (unlined kimono made of asa, hemp or ramie) with long sleeves. It is made of Echigo-chijimi, which was woven in Echigo region, now Niigata prefecture. It is handwoven of choma (ramie) whose wefts and warps are hand-plied, and the surface has light shrinkage from twisted warps and wefts. It has hand-painted flower motifs. The lining of collar cloth is thin silk, probably dyed with benibana (safflower). In excellent condition, no hole or no stain. 19th century...

A Very Fine/Rare Korean Early White Glazed Dish-16th C.: Korea, Joseon dynasty, 15th - 16th century. The elegantly potted shallow dish, sharply tapering to a raised foot and with a raised rim, with the interior face bordered with a single line, the both out and insides covered overall in an even greyish white glaze with the base. It’s in very good condition with applied white glaze overall evenly, it measures 17.2 cm x 4 cm

Porcelain Chinese figurine of Tsao Kuo Chiu, who is a patron saint of theatrical profession. Richly decorated in polychrome enamels, Tsao Kuo Chiu is one of the 8 Immortals. We have never seen a theatrical monkey at the base, but he is a nice addition to this very unique 19th century Chinese figurine. Marked CHINA on the bottom, we are dating him Circa 1900. In excellent condition, he measures 7.5 inches tall.

A very good Classic Period glass paperweight with a pinchbeck design. The scene depicts the "Descent from the Cross" and shows two centurions, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus taking the body from the cross while Mary weeps at Jesus' feet. The pinchbeck insert is finished in a silver tone rather than the more common gold. The crystal dome is of very good quality, with excellent clarity and good optical magnification to highlight the detail of the scene...

The Amitayus ( Bodhisattva of Longevity ) is seated on double-lotus throne in dhyanasana and with both hands in dhyanamudra.

The statue is 17,1 inches high and 7,5kg heavy!

Large cloth which is recycled from hemp maku (shroud) with Tomoe-mon crest (three-way), dyed with vegetable indigo and painted with sumi (ink). Both warp and weft yarn are hand-plied. The original maku might have been used in the temple or shirine, or on the occasion of rites and festivals. Generally in god condition but has a few mending patches and the indigo blue faded parts and wear. 19th century. 148cm x 2m80cm

Antique Japanese unusual merchant's box on a custom metal stand. It has a large front door with iron hardware, which opens to reveal three storage drawers inside. The box's lid opens to two compartments covered in black lacquer, with an interesting red lacquer marking on the central panel as well as the inside of the lid. West Mexican Black Burnished stucco tall sided bowl, nice shape well made with a great feel . there are chips and repair. The bowl matches one of our listings of a pair of Pre Columbian statue arms each holding a similar bowl with an offering. Size 2.5" by 5.5"

Antique, 19th century, Islamic, Central Asian horsemen, Turkmen Nomads, Yomud, horse blanket - horse saddle cover (tainaksha). Hand woven wool (flat weave) in traditional Yomut pattern, heavy dark brown felt is lined to the underside. Such covers were woven to adorn, but especially to protect, their steeds from the freezing winds and the severe temperature of the steppe; they are warm, wrapping-round covers, executed in warp faced technique to make them thick and closely worked...

Chinese miniature porcelain tea caddy with gold decoration. All the gold painting is intact and shows no wear which is pretty amazing. Dates mid to late 1700's, it is a fantastic little piece for the collector. In excellent condition, that is as originally made, the only imperfections are little pin pricks in the firing which is normal. This had a cork stopper which is inside the caddy. Measures 3" high x 2" wide x 1/2". Dates 2nd half 1700's.

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Franziska Hirsch Dresden Studio in the 1880s. The saucer measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter. The cup is 2 5/8 inches tall with a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. The porcelain is highly translucent. The cup features a delicate butterfly handle and pedestal base. Both pieces are beautifully hand painted with swags of tiny, delicate flowers. There are fine gilded accents and lacy gold trim. The butterfly is accented with gold...

Buddhist Stupa mounted on an elephant. The stupa is composed of four parts which were carved separately in rock crystal. Graeco-Buddhist art, Gandhara, ca. 3rd century. Height: 8.8 cm. Old accident locally restored, otherwise very good condition. A rare piece.

Japanese indigo cotton fireman's coat, with sashiko stitching and freehand paste resist decoration (tsutsugaki) of a cherry blossom, overlapping rings and striations. The front of the coat has four kanji characters on the lapel, and the inside of the coat is resist dyed with geometric designs and a round central emblem.

19th century smallish (probably made for a child) mask netsuke of Okame. Wonderful chubby face with a wide smile, black ink highlights, very nice wear and patina. Signed on the back - the signature appears to read ROSUI. Height 1.19 inches.

Probably a handle for a chest or a door. In the form of the face of a lion depicted in high relief, holding a ring in the gaping jaws, with protruding tongue, incised whiskers and fur, and radiating mane. Mounted. From an old New Jersey collection. Purchased on the NY art market in the early 1980s.

Rare late Ming - early Qing dynasty 17 - 18th century Dehua Blanc de Chine figure of Ang Hai Jie, standing with three legged frog on the shoulder, good condition no chip no crack no restoration, small defect coin ornament on left hand, inner part got thick glaze up to the head, large size in 33 cm height.

Antique Chinese porcelain inkwell with clear glaze. The lid and the box's sides show the image of a dragon compromised of thin swirling lines against a recessed background. This is a rare and attractive example of Japanese Golden Age Cloisonne. The colors are bright and the design is very desirable. It is a unique piece that was probably made in the mid 1890's. The tray is heavy and measures 12 3/4 inches by 8 inches. All in all condition is very good and it displays wonderfully. If you look close, there is a short craze and slight bend in the outer rim (see image). There is some roughness on the bottom is from the firing process.

A mukuzuke or serving dish of raised barbed lotus form with a moulded ribbed cavetto decorated in underglaze blue with gilt outlined enamels dating to circa 1740-70. The unusual form of the dish follows Chinese “Ko Sometsuke” precedents of the first half of the 17th century; see “The Peony Pavillion” lot 220 for a Chinese example of the Chongzhen period, where this particular form is considered to have been especially made for the kaiseki meal accompanying the Tea ceremony.
