Two amulet bronze plaques, one with deity or worshipper, size: 12,5-13 cm. and a substantial peacock ornament with loops, size: 11,8 x 10 cm.

Condition: Intact with red and bronze patinas, with some glucerin stains and dirt deposits, probably from use - uncleaned.

Inkwash painting depicts a long tailed fowl rests in the plum blossom tree. Painted with ink on silk. Signed Tanyu and sealed. It is a great antique piece of Kano school Paintings.

The Kano school is a group of painters who produced fusuma (sliding doors) and wall paintings as official painters for the shogunate at their castles and houses. It reigned at the center of the art world for about 400 years from the Muromachi(1338-1573) to the Edo period(1603-1868)...

A literati and Butterflies. Painted with ink and pigments on silk. Signed Shunto and sealed.

Some light marks and foxing are present on the painting itself, otherwise the painting is in good condition with the age. Some light crease, marks, damage are present on the scroll mounting.

Pair of German 800 silver figural bird bowl, ca 1920. Each: Swan with ovoid body, upturned tail, and scaly-s-scroll neck terminating in in closed bill. Imbricated feathers and hinged plumy wings that can be opened to suggest flight. Hollow gilt-washed interior for holding treats. German marks including Hanau maker’s stamp (Gebrüder Neumann) and American importer’s stamp (Buchholz & Zelt). Very good condition.

During Qing Dynasty silver figures of traditional mythical characters were sewn onto hats for decoration. A powerful image of Padmasambhava also known as Guru Rimpoche, the reputed founder of Tibetan Buddhism. Carved mostly of a single piece of precious dark purple sandalwood (zitan). Remains of colours and gold. Tibet, 17–18th cent. H 15 cm. Condition: Very good but of course with wear due to age. The trident (khatvanga) is missing.
