Wooden carving of Daruma or Bodhidharma, a Buddhist monk who lived in the 5th or 6th century CE. He is depicted as ill-tempered and is shown here with a deep frown as he meditates. This Daruma carving is painted with red, bronze, and gold lacquer paint and appears to have once been mounted as the top and bottom have holes carved into them and a metal rod going through it to be affixed to a structure, most likely a lamp. Antique wooden carving, that once served as decoration to the front of an Burmese ox cart, depicting a being called a 'kinnaya' from Buddhist and Hindu mythology. Kinnaya are half-bird and half-human celestial musicians. Buddhists believe that Buddha was incarnate as a kinnaya four times in his existence. 19th century- Has stand. A rare pair of apple green glazed candle holders designed by William Howson Taylor and made at the Ruskin Pottery works in Smethwick, near Birmingham, West Midlands, UK. Rare wide brimmed Tibetan hat, meant to be worn by reincarnated lamas of a high-rank, called Tulku, who have the power to choose their manner of rebirth. It is covered in a copper/gold lacquer over incised designs with coiled dragons, flowers, and various Buddhist symbols. The inner part has pierced characters and a raised design, and is topped with a bronze and quartz finial with auspicious designs. This porcelain chocolate cup and saucer was produced in France by Haviland & Co. Limoges in the 1880s. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/4 inches and the cup is 2 1/2 inches high. The set is made of fine translucent porcelain. The handle on the cup is in the shape of a ribbon. The set is decorated with a factory transfer of tiny pansies. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur or KPM in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/4 inches and the cup is 2 inches high. The porcelain body has molded designs in high relief that are accentuated by the gilding and hand painting. Floral swags and knots of flowers are scattered around the surface. Delicate filigree gilding trims the borders and interior areas...

A fine 18th Century Kano school painting depicted peony flowers. Behind the scene is a stream. It is painted with pigments of green (rokusho), which has been richly used. The combination of red and white flower symbolizes good fortune. This subject was painted in life size and a very good example of Kano school peony painting.
