A very unusual and extremely rare ink cake in the form of a crouching dog, circa 1800. From its underside you see evidence that the ink cake was hand molded, what is even more remarkable is that this is a white ink cake, and most likely would have been used in special paintings of the scholar class. Shallow form with brilliant turquoise color. The cavetto is molded with thirty-two chrysanthemum petal-form flutes that appear convex on the back-side of the dish and encircle the flattened base. A sublime antique Japanese tsuba centered on the theme of the ocean. The tsuba contains motifs of abalone shell, basket weave pattern, and waves peeking through the patterned holes near the area where the blade would have been fitted. Tsuba is done in iron with mixed metal accents to highlight the abalone shell and rope. Age: 19th century, Edo period. Size: Diameter: 3.25"
Antique Japanese tsuba done in the finest craftsmanship. Made of iron with extensive shakudo nanako plate overall and with many gold blossoms. This nice Japanese carved ivory Okimono group is an early 20th century piece. The base is 9” long and 6 ½“ wide. The sitting merchant is 4 ¾” tall, 3” wide and 2 ½“ in depth. It depicts a smiling old man holding a tobacco pipe and displaying his merchandise in the market. The signature is placed on a small red rectangular hard stone which is inlayed on an oval ivory piece. It reads “SHOZAN”. It is in excellent condition.

This is Song dynasty Henan russet splash bowl. On the inside of the bowl there are two rows of iron brown streak flowing down along the cavetto and another row lower down. On the outside of the bowl, it is glazed with a black coloured glossy glazed covering all the way down just before the footrim.

These 6 porcelain egg cups were produced in England by Minton in the mid 19th century. We have seen this pattern attributed to Minton in our research. The cups measure 2 inches high and the openings are 2 inches in diameter. The porcelain is unglazed white parian. The interiors of the cups are glazed. They are molded in high relief with lily pads, blossoms, and buds in fine detail.
