This is a beautiful, unusual walnut and burl Gentleman's dresser made by Nelson, Matter & Company from Grand Rapids, Michigan. They were in business from 1870 to 1899. The whole piece measures 6'1" tall x 4' wide x 21" deep. The full length beveled mirror stands on the left side, and on the right is a four drawer dresser including a hidden top drawer and three other drawers. The top of the dresser is lovely marble. It has a partial tag still attached with the maker's name...

An antique Japanese Ranma (transom) made of Akita Sugi (northern Japan Cryptomeria) and Hinoki (Cypress) woods. The frame was finished in a black Urushi lacquer while the design was hand carved in relief on both sides.
