The cover decoration of this box, executed in an extremely nice cobalt blue, is well known as the central medallion of the inner decoration of some extremely rare underglaze blue Imperial Chenghua "Palace Bowls". It is a single stylished flower head, represented in a style resp. in a manner which we only do know from the Chenghua period. Ming Dynasty, Jingdezhen ware, 1465 - 1487. Diameter : 4,4 cm. Baby's ceremonial kimono made of machine woven cotton with hand-painting with motif of noble people. It has se-mamori (charm) with silk thread. The diagonal stitches to the left means it is boy's kimono ( to the right is girl's ). In old days, it is believed that evils come from back and a baby is vulnerable without seam in the back, so se-mamori is put. In good condition but a bit dusty from aging. Dry cleaning only. A Karatsu ware tea bowl with silver mending (gin-tsugi) which is mending technique, broken pieces are put together with urushi and then silver powder is applied. It has simple painting which is called E-karatsu. Karatsu ware has been produced in the east part of Saga and the north part of Nagasaki prefectures in Kyushu since late 16th century. This covered box of a Sawankhalok underglazed black stoneware has an unusual design including six raised bands dividing petal-shaped segments. This type of Sawankhalok ware was produced in Sisatchanelai kilns, Thailand during the fourteenth to fiftheenth centuries. Height: 11 cm. Very good condition. A definitely lvely pot with an extraordinary rich floral decoration with birds. The glaze and the deep cobalt blue blue strongly reminds on Chinese Jingdezhen ware pieces of the Ming Dynasty. Annamese ware ( Vietnam ) 15th - 16th century . Diameter : 7,4 cm. Condition : Perfect ( the glaze a little bit eroded, some fine glaze cracks, but no cracks in the body of the piece. )

This Ge glazed dish is at least from the early Qing Dynasty but most probably the piece is older. Please compare the shape and the unglazed base of the piece with similar Ge glazed pieces from the early Ming and the Yuan Dynasty. This is a children's kimono used in Kyoto during the Edo period. This is depicted in Tsutsugaki. This is exactly the bold expression only Tsutsugaki has. It is the carps, waves and rocks, movements are boldly expressed in Tsutsugaki. It is a three-dimensional expression. It has a sharp color. This is a rare hand-spun natural Shina-fu ( linden)boro bag from the Meiji period (1868-1911). It was originally a stiff material, but it softened after being used many times. The repair marks are cotton fabric and hemp thread. linden cloth naturally turn dark brown over time due to the tannins in the fibers of these trees. There are stains and repair marks.
