An antique Japanese Zushi (portable altar) with standing Amida Buddha within. Urushi lacquer over wood. Original bronze ornamentation features a large clasp with stylized arabesque Lotus blossoms on either side and the Dharma wheel above and below. Makie lacquer crossed feathers Mon (family crest). Opening the doors of the altar reveals the Buddha in its original patina and a hand painted upper apron with lotus blossoms...

Original antique painting by artist "Old Tosa" of a late scene from the Japanese fable "Hachikatsugi Hime" or "The Princess with the Magic Bowl". The tale tells of a princess, daughter of a Samurai warrior, whose mother placed a wooden bowl upon her head before passing away. She could not remove the bowl and faced ridicule from the local children. She ran away from home and eventually found love and acceptance...

A Chinese porcelain moulded dish of sixteen petaloid form, (chrysanthemum form, kikugata) decorated with panels of flowers, Chrysanthemums, Plum Blossom, brocade bands and Tea flowers to the centre. The reverse painted with sprigs in iron red and underglaze blue. The dish dates to the late Kangxi circa 1700-1720. The dish measures 18.5cms in diameter...

An excellently and thinly potted Porcelain jar, decorated with an abstractly painted landscape scenery. The underglaze Cobalt blue is deep and very nice. Qing Dynasty, Yongzheng Period ( 1723 - 1735 ) H : 10,9 cm. Diameter : 9,7 cm. Condition : Perfect.

Antique Chinese blue and white glazed bowl with low walls and flared rim. Painted with a five-clawed dragon in the center and swirling mist. The low walls are decorated with scrolling flowers and vines on both the inside and the outside. There is a lovely crackling of the glaze on the bottom interior.

This pair of cups belong to superior class of delicately enameled Yongzheng export wares. There's a bowl and saucer in the same pattern in the collection of King Augustus the Strong (see last photo).

An interesting and rare Chinese teapot of conventional bullet form with flanged lid with foo dog finial decorated in a combination of opaque famille rose enamels and translucent famille verte enamels probably dating from the earliest period in the development of the “famille rose palette circa 1720-1725. The subject is that of Li Bai, the famous Tang poet and imbiber of fine wines. Here pictured in one of his famous escapades dressed as a scholar riding a donkey accompanied by a page...

The group of small porcelain items known as "toys" is composed of scent bottles, bonbonnieres, etuis, and seals. These were produced from the early years of Chelsea through to the Chelsea-Derby period. (The most comprehensive work on these items is The Chelsea Porcelain Toys, by G.E. Bryant, published in 1925.)

Seals were carried by members of the upper class and used to imprint a uniquely identifiable mark in the wax used to sign or secure documents or letters...

Chinese Blue and White Teapot with stylised Cockerel spout and handle. The body decorated with pavilions on islands in a lakeside setting. 18thc Qianlong C1765/75. Height 12.5 cm, Length 21.5 cm. Condition; excellent, small frit to tip of spout, no chips, cracks or restoration.

This is an original Edo period (1603-1867) patchwork silk kimono textile. The collar part is a beautiful cloth with hand embroidery and shibori dye from the Genroku period (1688-1704). This is a yosegire kimono made with a patchwork of natural safflower-dyed katazome, shibori, purple root dyeing, and indigo-dyed katazome silk. All are originals from the Edo period. The lining is natural safflower-dyed silk and will discolor over time.There are some stains and damage on the cuffs...

H. 18 cm. The vase is in perfect condition. Only the lid is missing, as is often the case with pieces of this age. China, Kangxi period (1662-1722)
