An 18th century faience desk set or inkwell for a lady, decoration of flower sprigs, mainly Forget me nots. French, possibly Rouen around 1780, Width "6 ¼ / 15.8 cm and height " / 5.7 cm. The base with four little feet and mark W in black, maybe for William Sturgeon who owned one of the Rouen factories from 1776. Condition: later restorations having been removed, now left with cracks and hairlines (cf. pics) but still charming.

Rare and complete set Burmese manuscript (KAMMAVACA) made from thick cloth coated with gold and lacquer in nice condition. It was written in the Pali language using Burmese script. The square letters were written in thick and black cinnabar lacquer. This set has 16 leaves and 2 wooden covers made from teak wood. Each leave was inscribed on both sides with illustrations of deity figures from Hindu-Buddhist mythology on some leaves...

Up for sale is an antique Chinese Qing dynasty embroidered semi formal dragon silk robe, Jifu, with nine 5-clawed dragons executed in couched gold wrapped threads; clouds, Buddhist & Taoist auspicious symbols, bats, sea waves, and standing water ( Lishui) are embroidered with silk floss, lined with blight blue silk. Overall is in excellent condition, no frays across shoulders' folding lines, minor staining & discoloration to silk lining...

A fine Chinese late 19th century ivory card case featuring an intricately carved garden setting with figures and pavilions on a pierced background. It is in excellent condition save for a very small break/loss that is almost invisible when the case is closed, see last 3 photos. Otherwise, no cracks, no repairs, etc. Measures 4.5" high, 3" wide.

A Chinese box of grey celadon jade and rectangular shape with rounded corners. The body is very thinly carved , resembling the Mughal manner and the cover is delicately incised with a bird in a tree. Elegant in its simplicity and precision, it typifies the 18 C. lapidary art on small jade objects. Age: 18 C. size: 2 7/10 inches x 1 7/10 inches x 3/5 inch high when closed. ( 6.6 cm x 4.5 cm x 1.5cm high when closed.

A striking Peacock feather colored flambe glazed vase by Leading Kyoto Potter Uno Ninmatsu enclosed in a signed wooden box dated the 10th month of Showa 5 (October 1930). It is 28 cm tall and in excellent condition.
Uno Ninmatsu (1864-1937) was born in Kyoto son of potter Wada Sohei and studied under his father as well as from a young age Seifu Yohei II then future Imperial Art Academy artist Seifu Yohei III until setting up his own studio at the age of 21...

This apron is from the Huan Xi area and was part of the traditional Miao ethnic minority woman's festival costume. Made from home spun fibers,indigo dyed yarn, it is embroidered with tiny intricate cross stitch geometric design...the ties are also hand woven. The apron measures approx 17 x 17 inches and is in good condition...with a few very light stains which do not show on photo with enhancing...

A beautifully formed double series opaque twist (DSOT) firing glass of dram size. The ogee bowl with basal fluting surmounts a stem containing 4 spiral threads outside of an inner gauze. The extremely thick foot has a crescent shaped bubble in it which is totally internal and does not break the top or bottom surface.

The glass is 4 3/8 inches tall, with a bowl diameter of 2 inches and a foot diameter of 2 5/8 inches. Rough, snapped pontil...

This is a southern Song dynasty (1131 - 1276 A.D) yingqing or qingpai covered bowl in a sea green glazed. It stands on a short recessed glazed footrim and then everted into a straight U-shaped bowl with unglazed rim. The inside of the bowl is also glazed with yingqing sea green colour. On the body of the bowl, it is incised with lotus petal shaped overlapping one another. The cover of the bowl is also incised with overlapping lotus petals with a rounded finial on the top...

Large head of Serapis shown with a fulsome beard and fringed hairdo over the forehead. On the crown a closed modius decorated with an olive branch.
The face with a small nose and flat eye cavities with thin eyelids. The mouth enclosed by a stringy moustache.
Modeled in the round. Two-piece mold with cursory back side. Remains of the original gesso layer in the cavities. Nice Hellenistic style.

Fine Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Female Courtier ("Fat Lady") AD 618 - 906

Perhaps the most desirable and collectable pottery sculpture from the Tang Dynasty is the female courtier, or "fat lady". This fine example was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906).

The lady stands with her head turned a little to her left and tilted slightly at a quizzical" angle. She is wearing a particularly voluminous long robe...

Offered is a wonderful example of a late 19thC Pharmacy "tool of the trade" known as a pill machine but often referred to as a pill roller.

Pill machines were designed to enhance the productivity of the early pharmacist, and this design was, indeed, popular for many, many years. This pill machine is designed with 24 tubes for medicine-making.

The condition is very good, sporting a nice patina commensurate with its age and use...

Pair of early 19th century Japanese sword menuki depicting lobsters on a bed of sea weeds. One menuki has Daikoku mallet on top (stands for wealth), and the other a character meaning long life. Excellent work with great detailing - see various textures of the shells. Bronze with coppery patina, gilded water drops on the sea weeds, overall in great condition. Length 1 9/16 inches.

Antique Japanese rare two-section isho tansu (clothing chest) with a very interesting burl wood front, and lacquered sides. Each of its very large drawers has its own custom incised lockplate with imagery of cherry blossoms, bamboo, cranes, and other auspicious elements.
